nglish and Translation club celebrated International mother language day on 18th Feb 2019. The main<br />
purpose of celebrating this day was to promote the awareness of language and cultural diversity among the<br />
students of <strong>PSAU</strong>. The celebration began with painting exhibition by our young talent Ms. Atheer Al Malki<br />
followed by literature exhibition. There were various stall depicting important writers belonging to<br />
different periods of <strong>English</strong> literature, in particular William Shakespeare. Our students also arranged many<br />
corners highlighting world languages like Turkish, Urdu, Hindi, Korean, Japanese, Arabic and <strong>English</strong>. In<br />
these corners the participant students spoke about interesting facts like History, culture, usage and<br />
vocabulary of these languages. A game was also organized in which the visiting students were encouraged to<br />
speak or write an equivalent word of <strong>English</strong> in language of their choice on the board provided to them.<br />
There were few corners about ethics where the students demonstrated work ethics and also spoke about the<br />
importance of ethics in one’s life. The ethics corner was supervised by Ms. Warda.<br />
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Head of the<br />
department Dr. Fawziah Harshan who interacted with all the<br />
participant students, listened to them patiently and encouraged<br />
them tremendously. She took active interest to know about<br />
history, culture and usage of various languages and was<br />
delighted when students greeted her in Korean and Chinese<br />
salutation. She was given her name written in Korean and<br />
Chinese by the participant students which pleased her very<br />
much. Her visit gave a huge boast to the student’s morale. All<br />
the members of the staff and students of <strong>English</strong> department as<br />
well as other departments attended the celebration. Overall this<br />
activity was a huge success where in all the students took part<br />
actively and enthusiastically. The students and staff enjoyed the<br />
day very .much as this activity was like a breath of fresh air to all<br />
of them. The programme was conceptualized and supervised by<br />
Ms. Sameena Banu with the help and support of Ms. Sara<br />
Ghanem.<br />
