Square, and pick up fresh local produce for
a home-cooked meal!
Started in 1996 by the Community Redevelopment
Agency, the GreenMarket has become
one of the most popular and charming
aspects of “the season” in Delray Beach.
At the GreenMarket you’ll find more than
65 premier food vendors featuring farm-tofork
produce, just picked citrus, tropical fruit
and juice, farm fresh eggs, raw milk and butter,
artisan cheese and jams, fragrant baked
goods, plenty of gluten-free, vegan and organic
products, fresh cut flowers, plants and
other unique gourmet fare along with live
musical entertainment each Saturday.
It won’t be difficult to whip up something
special for Mom from the GreenMarket
Cookbook ($12).
The GreenMarket is at Old School Square
Saturdays from 9am to 2pm through May 18,
then moves to the Delray Beach Tennis Center
Saturdays in June and July from 9am to 12pm.
Culture
We always recommend a visit to our
jewel, Old School Square. Treat Mom to a
membership, purchase a ticket to an upcoming
show or simply visit the museum.
You will not be disappointed. Or better yet,
show your love by naming a seat in the
Crest Theatre after your mother (we did):
Call 243-7922 for more information.
To get a taste of Delray’s diversity, visit the
S.D. Spady Museum on Northwest 5th Ave.
And for something different, check out
the Morikami Museum and Gardens. Always
a delight.
If nature is Mom’s thing, don’t forget the
Sandoway House Nature Center on A1A.
Or a trip west to Hagen Ranch Road may
be in order.
Green Cay Nature Center overlooks 100
acres of constructed wetland and provides
educational opportunities about this unique
habitat. The wetland features 1.5 miles of
elevated boardwalk featuring interpretive
signs about the habitat. The Nature Center
includes a lecture hall, gift shop, and live
animals in an extensive exhibit room that
highlights wetland attributes.
Finally, if Mom hasn’t been to the Arts
Garage make sure to check it out.
For an early gift, we recommend buying
tickets to The Blues Beatles who will perform
at the Arts Garage May 18 at 8 p.m.
Blues Beatles is a blues band that mixes
the melodies of the Beatles with traditional
Blues arrangements, a mix that has been
winning in Brazil, USA, and Europe. The
band has worked and reworked many different
songs since it was formed, but only
the ones that sound natural to their ears
stay in the repertoire.
Pampering
Once again, Delray is chock full of pampering
options from yoga and fitness classes
to massage therapy and skin care treatments—take
your choice. Surprise Mom
with a gift certificate and make sure to add
a gift card for lunch.
Happy Mother's Day!
