An internationally known and award-winning
Sharon Klein
Sharon Klein is a veteran of the New York
City music scene in the 80’s and 90’s, having
written over 200 songs. Her love of travel,
world music and other cultures has become
the major influence in her own eclectic and
melodic finger style guitar compositions. Her
profound love of the “piano-like” qualities of
a finely built flat top guitar has led her to compose
airy, open and highly melodic “songs for strings” that show
off the rich overtones of the instrument. It is also the title of her
upcoming CD. This is Sharon’s tenth year as Production Partner
and Music Coordinator for WILS.
from the University of New Orleans Jazz Studies
Marsalis Jr. Inspired by the recordings of Joe Pass, Pat Martino
and Wes Montgomery, Ludwig soon became one of the most
with notable contemporaries such as Ellis Marsalis, Peter Bernstein,
Tony McManus
To find a unique voice on the guitar is quite
an achievement; to do so within a centuries
old idiom where the instrument has no history
is truly remarkable. Tony’s work has come to
represent Celtic music in the guitar world. He
is invited annually to the Chet Atkins Festival
in Nashville, has appeared at Guitar Festivals
in Soave, Pescantina, Sarzana and Francacorta,
Italy; Frankston, Australia; Issoudun and Bordeaux, France;
Bath and Kent, England; Bochum and Osnabruck, Germany. In
2004, he appeared at the Ryman, Nashville in the “All Star Guitar
Night” featuring Steve Morse, Bryan Sutton, Muriel Anderson,
Béla Fleck, Victor Wooten and headlined by Les Paul.
His album “The Maker’s Mark” saw him showcase 15 luthier-built
guitars. Recording a piece on each instrument, the project
caught the attention of the rock guitar press in a way that
acoustic work rarely does. Never to be typecast, his latest solo
album, “Mysterious Boundaries,” is his most ambitious to date
with 10 classical and baroque pieces arranged by McManus. A
work of great originality and beauty, it was hailed by his peers as
“a masterpiece” (Renbourn), “beyond beautiful… it’s PERFECT!”
(Tommy Emmanuel) and which contains a remarkable rendition of
Bach’s colossal Chaconne in D Minor.
NOTE: Tony will be conducting a Clinic on Saturday, 10/27 at 10:00am.
Mark Milloff
Mark Milloff lived in the woods of Western
Massachusetts for 20 years. He was born in
Miami and raised in South Florida during the
50’s and 60’s. He’s been devoted to listening
to and playing Delta Blues since the age of
13. His band, the Cannibal Ramblers, has
opened for the likes of BB King and Robert
Randolph and the Family.
“What always makes the Cannibal Ramblers amazing is the way
they fuse swampy blues with Mark Milloff’s beatnik, honest and
poetic lyrics. They walk the fine line between backwoods and
metropolitan in fantastic fashion.” Milloff plays custom-made
instruments, including a couple of guitars created by Atelier
Rosenkrantz. Milloff remains eternally grateful to Rosenkrantz
for building the parlor guitar displayed and is happy to attend
Woodstock to demonstrate it.
