Flamingo Fridays kickoff<br />
event this Friday<br />
The Community Relations<br />
Commission will<br />
hold its annual Welcome<br />
to Northbrook/Flamingo<br />
Friday KickOff event<br />
from 5-7 p.m. on Friday,<br />
May 17, at the Village<br />
Hall.<br />
Representatives from<br />
the General Government,<br />
Public Works, Police,<br />
and Fire Departments<br />
as well as the Arts Commission,<br />
Public Library,<br />
Park District, the Northbrook<br />
Historical Society,<br />
Northbrook Chamber, and<br />
North Suburban YMCA<br />
will be in attendance to<br />
discuss services in the<br />
Village of Northbrook.<br />
Refreshments will be<br />
served. The Commission<br />
encourages all to stop by<br />
and meet neighbors and<br />
public officials.<br />
At the event, the Commission<br />
will distribute<br />
plastic pink flamingos for<br />
the popular “Flamingo<br />
Friday” program. As part<br />
of this program, neighbors<br />
are encouraged to host a<br />
“Flamingo Friday” event<br />
at their home.<br />
These events allow<br />
neighbors to meet in a<br />
causal atmosphere each<br />
week throughout the<br />
summer on a day and<br />
time determined by the<br />
neighborhood. The plastic<br />
lawn flamingos travel<br />
from host to host and<br />
are on display the Monday<br />
or Tuesday before<br />
each gathering to tell the<br />
