Yul Edochie turns preacher
after surviving car crash
ACE Nollywood actor, Yul
Edochie, who an auto
accident on a recent trip to the
East, has turned to an evangelist
preachng the importance of
getting close to God.
He made this known
through his Instagram
account, @yuledochie,
yesterday.
He wrote: “All I can say is
thank you Lord, thank you
Jesus, thank you Jehovah.
God is real and God is alive.
Thank you blessed Mother
Mary
“I left Lagos, yesterday,
heading to the East. Just
before I got to Ore, doing
100 to 120 kilometre per
IBADAN—NO fewer than 20
persons were, yesterday,
rescued by Oyo State Police
Command from a detention
camp allegedly being operated
by an Islamic cleric at Agugu
area of Ibadan.
There were contradictory
reports on the motive of the
owner of the alleged detention
camp.
While some residents, who live
in the area, said the man was a
spiritualist who treats mentally
deranged people in a traditional
way, some claimed that the man
allegedly uses the place as a
shrine.
The Police confirmed that 20
perceived victims had been
evacuated from the place, but
added that it was yet to be
confirmed whether the man who
was identified as Alfa Oloore used
the place as a shrine or not.
Just like Soka kidnappers' den
some years ago, the discovery
attracted residents of the area who
thronged the place with all sorts
of stories.
Vanguard gathered that those
evacuated from the shrine looked
weak and lean.
A source further told Vanguard
that most of the victims appeared
to have some mental challenges.
While confirming the arrest of
the owner of the camp, Police
Public Relations Officer of the
Oyo Police Command, SP
Gbenga Fadeyi, said: “I can
confirm that there was an arrest
of the owner of the shrine where
many inmates were evacuated.
“But some people came later
to the Police Station to say they
were the ones who gave their
children to the owner of the
shrine, who they also claimed
to be a spiritualist.
“In fact, some of those
recovered from the shrine had
issues; some behave like drug
addicts, some like mentally
deranged persons and so on.
“But what the Police want to
do is embark on thorough
started veering off to the
right.
arrested along Abuja-Kaduna
“Apparently the troops had in
finally ended up in a gutter.”
Edochie said he
miraculously came out alive
with a few cuts and bruises.
of bandits' maltreatment
THE Federal Road Safety Corps,
FRSC, says at least 1,618
people have lost their lives through
road accidents between December
2018 and February 2019.
The information is contained in
the Report of Road Traffic Crash for
December 2018, January and
December 2019, released by the
FRSC.
According to the report, over
21,577 people were involved in
road crashes involving cars,
their overzealousness tied one
of the suspects to a stake in a
desperate attempt to extract
information from him.
“he DHQ wishes to
unambiguously state that the act
exhibited by the troops in the
video footage is very
unprofessional and an outright
violation of the code of conduct
handed down to guide the
conduct and behaviour of troops
of the AFN during operations.
“The DHQ, therefore, in very
strong terms condemn this act
of ineptitude and exhibition of
lawlessness.
“The DHQ considers the
conduct of the troops highly
regrettable. In order to promptly
address the anomaly, Chief of
Defence Staff has ordered a
thorough investigation into the
incident to bring to book all
those found culpable in
accordance with the military
justice system.”
1,618 die from road accidents
minibuses, motorcycles, trucks,
tankers and trailers.
Further analysis shows that
the top five causes of road
accidents were speed violation,
wrongful overtaking,
dangerous driving, tyre burst
and brake failure.
The FRSC report identified
Kaduna-Abuja Road as the
most prevalent route in cases of
accident fatality within the
period under review.
