THERE WILL no doubt be a lot of people<br />

happy to see Skippy back at the timeball<br />

station (see page 1).<br />

The jack russell cross lived next door to the<br />

station and would head there each day until<br />

she went to the great dog kennel in the sky in 2009.<br />

She would turn up every day, just before 1pm, as the timeball<br />

was being raised. Skippy would hear the mechanism clanking,<br />

then squeeze under the fence, run through the garden and bark.<br />

Said former timeball station manager Jan Titus. “Skippy was<br />

such a feature that people on our tours would watch the drop then<br />

race across on the viewing platform to spot Skippy as she trotted<br />

home.”<br />
