TRAINING MANUAL GOALS AND OBJECTIVES<br />

Goal I:<br />

To increase the awareness of teachers <strong>and</strong> other significant adults about the issues surrounding<br />

suicide <strong>and</strong> appropriate responses.<br />

to assist adults in exploring <strong>and</strong> identifying their own personal attitudes about<br />

suicide<br />

actions will be based on knowledge<br />

to demonstrate <strong>and</strong> practice the techniques of listening <strong>and</strong> Active Listening<br />

to provide a comfort level in being able to effectively intervene in the life of a<br />

young person at risk<br />

to be able to list <strong>and</strong> identify the warning signs of impending suicide<br />

Goal II:<br />

To provide methods <strong>and</strong> materials to inform <strong>and</strong> instruct students about suicide awareness <strong>and</strong><br />

prevention including decision making <strong>and</strong> coping skills in determining options.<br />
