TRAINING MANUAL GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Goal I:
To increase the awareness of teachers and other significant adults about the issues surrounding
suicide and appropriate responses.

to assist adults in exploring and identifying their own personal attitudes about
suicide
to provide information and dispel myths and fallacies so that teaching and
actions will be based on knowledge
to demonstrate and practice the techniques of listening and Active Listening
to provide a comfort level in being able to effectively intervene in the life of a
young person at risk
to be able to list and identify the warning signs of impending suicide
Goal II:
To provide methods and materials to inform and instruct students about suicide awareness and
prevention including decision making and coping skills in determining options.
