customer coined what we had become<br />

in a short time: European Soul Food.”<br />

The partners knew the WunderBus was a<br />

short-term endeavor. “We had immense<br />

desire to impact the world around us,<br />

especially locally.” Jacqueline had her eye<br />

on the Locust Street property for at least<br />

a year. “<strong>August</strong>e had the gumption to<br />

pursue connecting with the owner, who<br />

had transformed it from a service station<br />

to a popular burger-joint-meets-fullservice-station.<br />

We owe it to <strong>August</strong>e’s<br />

tenacity that we can call this beautiful<br />

place our home!” says Jacqueline.<br />

WunderHaus intentionally chooses<br />

likeminded partners, specifically those<br />

specializing in sustainable agriculture.<br />

“As we grow, and as the world of local<br />

farming grows, it is increasingly important<br />

to invest in businesses that invest in<br />

the well-being of the world. We believe<br />

this is a small but vital step in making<br />

the world a better place for our children.<br />

That’s ultimately what we’re after; we<br />

want our children to live in a world<br />

with clean water to drink, fresh food to<br />

consume, and healthy soil to grow,” says<br />

Jacqueline.<br />

They are willing to take certain financial<br />

risks for the greater ecological good.<br />

“We’ve observed and studied what is<br />

going on with our food systems, with our<br />

pollinators, and with our waters, and we<br />

have developed an understanding of what<br />

can happen when things get out of hand.<br />

We cannot unlearn what we know and<br />

are now faced with a sense of obligation<br />

to do better,” says Jacqueline. Wunder-<br />
