PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF APPLICATION FOR
RESOURCE CONSENT
Details of the application for resource consent listed below may be examined during
normal office hours at the Reception Counter of Council’s Civic offices, 53 Hereford
Street, Christchurch, Lyttelton Service Centre, 35 London Street, Lyttelton and
Diamond Harbour Library, Waipapa Avenue, Diamond Harbour, or the Council’s
website (refer link below).
Submissions must be made in writing on Form 13 or similar, and will be received at any
Council Office until 5:00pm on Friday 20 September, 2019. The postal address is
Resource Consents Unit, Christchurch City Council, PO Box 73013, Christchurch Mail
Centre, Christchurch 8154, or submissions can be emailed to
resourceconsentapplications@ccc.govt.nz. A copy of every submission must also be
served on the applicant. The submission form is available on the Council’s website or

CONSENT SOUGHT: Land use consent
PROPOSAL:
The Christchurch City Council has received an application from Lyttelton Port Company
for landuse consents to enable the establishment and operation of port activities on
reclaimed land Te Awaparahi Bay, at the eastern end of Lyttelton Port.
The applicant has previously obtained approvals to reclaim the land from Environment
Canterbury and this application is for a phased establishment and operation of a
container terminal and other port activities on the land that has been reclaimed and
is continuing to be reclaimed into the future.
The reclaiming of the land, which commenced in 2011, is being carried out in two
distinct parts:
• Reclamation A (comprising Phases 1 and 2); and
• Reclamation B.
The construction of Reclamation A (Phase 1) has just been completed. Construction of
Reclamation A (Phase 2) is underway, and construction of Reclamation B will follow.
The application is therefore for two landuse consents: the first landuse consent will
enable the establishment and operation of the container terminal and other port
activities on Reclamation A. The second landuse consent will enable the establishment
and operation of the container terminal and other port activities on Reclamation B.
