talents over the years. Snoop did a remix of our song called «Stress
away» on the 4D riddim. We grew up listening to Snoop in the early
nineties so it was cool to have a track with him. Desmond Child
held this amazing writing camp in Nashville for his artist Ace
Young and invited writers from around the world. To be invited
was amazing; of all the songs that were written, the one we wrote
together was placed on the album.
WA: We have heard of your wish to work with Kassav’, is there any
project underway in that sense?
KD: love Kassav and what they represent. Caribbean
sounds heard on a global scale. Makes me feel proud
to be Caribbean. Looking to make those connections
and make something great.
WA: Your last single “Hello” was a worldwide
hit: has it impacted your life at all?
KD: It has and continues to. The track and
its growth continues to teach me and the
band on our journey. Let’s see where “Hello”
carries us in the future.
WA: On December 12 th , 2016, you were part
of a show that paid tribute to murder victims
alongside Mavis John, Teresa Awai, Anya Ayoung-
Chee and Danielle Jones-Hunte… can you tell
us more about that particular event and whether
you are involved in any other social endeavour in the
Caribbean region?
KD: There are always issues that need to be heard across
the region. In 2017, we launched the #Nogreatertime
project, where musicians, poets, video production teams,
coordinators and many others came together to create a
song (“No greater time”) and video reminding us to love
and respect each other. Only good things can come from
that. At the moment, Trinidad and Tobago has suffered
loss due to floods. We will aid in any way that we can to
bring things back to normal.
WA: In 2016, you cut your dreadlocks: was there any
particular reason for that makeover?
KD: Sometimes in life you need to remind yourself that you
are not your things and that image is never constant but your
soul is timeless.
WA: What are your favourite Caribbean destinations?
KD: I love the entire Caribbean and feel blessed to call all of
these islands my home.

WA : Votre dernier single “Hello” a été un tube international
: y-a-t’il un avant et un après ?
KD : Oui et ce n’est pas terminé. Nous
continuons à apprendre beaucoup
de ce tube et de son évolution. Nous
verrons bien où nous emmène Hello à
l’avenir.
WA : Le 12 décembre 2016, vous avez
fait partie d’un spectacle d’hommage
à des victimes d’assassinat aux côtés
de Mavis John, Teresa
Awai, Anya Ayoung-Chee et
Danielle Jones-Hunte…

dire plus concernant cet
évènement en particulier et
tout autre engagement solidaire
dans la région Caraïbe ?
KD : Il y a toujours des questions
qui doivent être entendues
à travers la région.
En 2017, nous avons lancé

WA : En 2016, tu as coupé tes
dreadlocks : y’avait-il une raison
spécifique derrière un tel changement
?
KD : Parfois dans la vie, on doit se
rappeler que le matériel ne nous
définit pas et que notre image ne
peut être fixe étant donné que
notre âme est éternelle.
WA : Quelles sont vos
destinations préférées dans
la Caraïbe ?
KD : J’aime toute la Caraïbe et
me sens chanceux de pouvoir
me sentir chez moi sur chacune
de ses îles.
