What are the biggest challenges for my child in science? 1. Making sense of what the question is asking. 2. Remembering all the equations. 3. Remembering units for different quantities. 4. Remembering keywords and definitions. 5. Recalling the practical activities they could be tested on. 6. Revisiting content from a long time ago! How can they overcome these challenges? 1. Understand the meaning of command words. 2. Practise lots of questions. 3. Use past/specimen papers and self-assess. 4. Know what is on each paper by use the topic checklist alongside topic mind maps. 5. Revise in bite size chunks – little and often is the best. 6. Make flash cards and question cards – self/peer testing.
