LIBIS for Researchers
LIBIS – part of KU Leuven Libraries – offers a wide
range of digital services and expertise aimed at
supporting researchers in their studies and
scientific assignments. Our services range from
digitization and digital preservation of research
material, to software for managing, visualising
and sharing data. In the framework of national
and European infrastructure projects, we take up
the role of development partner in the design
and construction of innovative digital research
environments. For digitization of research
material we work together with the Imaging Lab
of KU Leuven Libraries.

• Data distribution and discovery: making data findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR).
• Data archiving services: long-term preservation of data for persistent access now and in the future.

Data standards, data formats, data interoperability, data
exchange protocols, data visualisation, data publication,
data preservation,… are just a few terms indicating the
diversity of activities part of research data management.
With our Services for Researchers LIBIS offers researchers
support in developing a digital strategy. Our expertise
comes from yearlong experience in working with data
from all sorts of organizations such as libraries, cultural
heritage and scientific institutions. Our focus is on
supporting researchers of the KU Leuven but we also
connect with networks from outside the University to
share knowledge and collaborate on projects.

Chinese Christian Texts Database - CCT
The Chinese Christian Texts Database (CCT-Database)
is a bibliographic research database on primary and
secondary resources from the Sinology Research Unit
of the KU Leuven.

Magister Dixit
This project focuses on a largely unstudied collection
of handwritten lecture notes of the ancient University
of Louvain. A flexible web-based platform digitally
unites collections distributed over different physical
locations.

Integrated Database for Early Music - IDEM
The IDEM database of the Alamire Foundation gives
access to high-quality data and digitized manuscripts
to advance the study of the music of the Low
Countries. A specialised viewer provides tools for
deep zooming, image sharing and comparative
research.

Digital Husserl
The Husserl archives preserve and study the unique
personal collections of philosopher Edmund Husserl.
Digital Husserl – an FWO medium-scale infrastructure
project - will provide researchers from all over the
world digital access to the collections for study and
collaboration.
iCandid
iCandid – an FWO medium-scale infrastructure
project in collaboration with the Institute for Media
Studies - aims to improve access to textual- and
audiovisual news- and social media. The platform
(under development) provides different search- and
export tools.
Research Infrastructure on Religious Studies -
ReIReS
ReIReS is an European project financed by Horizon
2020, the aim is to create a unique and
groundbreaking research infrastructure to improve
the access of scholars and researchers from all over
the world to the data, information and sources
concerning religious studies .
