The event includes a collaborative mural painting which
engaged several people who are supported by Castlegar
Mental Health and Substance Use services. A key component
of this event is to raise awareness about mental health
issues and provide the public with access to resources.
Artists of the event are showcasing their therapeutic
creative works which have contributed to their health
and well-being. The Open House will host practitioners
to help inform the public about accessing therapeutic
resources and also includes performances, experiential
practices and a panel of people with lived mental health
experiences. Opportunities to view the works, read artist
bios, hear people’s stories and support artists with their
goods for sale are at the following:
The mural installation Art Exhibit and Artist Vending
Shop will run for two weeks from September 26 through
October 10 at 1010 4th Street, Castlegar. Hours are
Wednesdays through Saturdays, 11 am – 6 pm (Wednesday
and Friday times slightly vary). An Art and Artisan
Craft Exhibit will be at the Castlegar & District Public
Library from September 26 – October 30. The World
Mental Health Day Public Presentations and Open House
are also at the Library from 3 – 6 pm, on October 10.
