Paris Saint-Germain’s
Brazil international
has pointed out the
importance of beating
Senegal and Nigeria in
their friendlies.
He said he was
impressed with the quality
of the Super Eagles and
Teranga Lions and
highlighted that the West
African teams have players
in the ranks with physical
attributes.
Senegal and Nigeria
finished in the top three
positions at the 2019 Africa
ranked 20th and 34th
respectively in the latest
gear as organisers have
fixed November 16 as date
for the meet which is
expected to attract
participation from about 30
secondary schools from
across the country.
Addressing the sporting
media in Lagos yesterday,
President of the
Government College
Ughelli Old Boys
Association Worldwide,
Charles Majoroh said from
the initial number of 18
schools that attended the
event in the maiden
edition last year, no fewer
than 30 schools were
expected to participate in
this year’s event.
and technical game too.
‘’We see great players
The Brazil national team
held their first training
session in Singapore
yesterday ahead of the two
friendlies against Senegal
(Oct 10) and Nigeria (Oct
We’ll make Nigeria proud, says
Chukwueze
lost its sunshine, with dark
heavy clouds that
unleashed fury, with
showers that made
players, officials and ball
boys scamper for cover.
While more than 17
matches were scheduled
to hold yesterday, the
downpour made nonsense
of this as the tournament
referee had to cancel the
games, which are now
expected to hold today, rain
permitting.
the match lightly when
Gernot Rohr’s men face the
Selecao on October 13 at
the Singapore National
Brazil have called up
their biggest stars
including PSG’s Neymar
and are set to meet Nigeria
three days after slugging it
out with the Teranga Lions
of Senegal in the same
stadium.
Chukwueze expects a
difficult game against the
five-time world
champions.
“That’s a big game
(between Nigeria and
Brazil) to look forward to
in Singapore and I think
it’s going to be a tough
match,” Chukwueze said.
“I don’t know how it’s
going to be but I’m
confident we are going to
make our country proud
because everybody is
going to look up to this
game.
