ZELENI DVORI Croatia 2019

At the edge of the nature park Medvednica, an area where one can live in leisure and breathe clean air, on a plot of a total area of approx. 18,300 sq m, with a natural water source and watercourse, an innovative architectural project, ZELENI DVORI, has been developed. At its core is a polyclinic with accompanying facilities, 14 low-energy homes with gardens, and an access road and promenade. In natural surroundings, quite close to Zagreb, and yet far from the hustle and bustle of the city, ZELENI DVORI represents architectural excellence founded on a successful combination of the existing landscape, innovative ideas, design quality, functionality and practicality, and an efficient use of natural resources, environmental sustainability, and durability of materials. Energy-efficient architecture with systems for utilising renewable energy sources, and landscaped exteriors, provide well-designed premium amenities both in the buildings themselves and on the plots on which they are situated. ZELENI DVORI is a place for a life with more pleasure, ideal for developing an integrated hotel in the function of medical tourism, additionally benefiting from the rural aspect of the wider locality and activities associated with it.

BRIŽNO KORIŠTENJE VODNIH RESURSA

PRUDENT UTILISATION OF WATER RESOURCES

umire u nekoliko dana, a rijetko tko razmišlja o njezinoj vrijednosti.

Štedite sebi i budućim generacijama!

g/o/k x 0,75 x 0,06 = 6,09 m³.

RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM

Blue gold is becoming pricier each day.

Earth is a blue planet because 70% of its surface is covered in water, but only

3% is freshwater, and most of it is ice. That means that only small quantities of

freshwater are available, and the quantities of potable water are even smaller.

Therefore, several billion people on Earth have no access to clean drinking water.

For people in most first-world countries and in Croatia, water simply runs from the

tap. Nobody thinks about what it takes for it to get there or what happens to it once

it leaves the tap! Without water, a human being will die in a matter of days, and

few are the people who really stop to think of its value. This is why water has been

a strategic commodity for years, the annual global trade in water amounting to ca

200 billion USD. This is the business of the privileged few. According to the City of

Zagreb Office for Energy, Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development,

an average Croatian household consumes between 140 and 150 litres of water

per day or ca 4.41 m/month per household member.

The precious raindrops are a gift from above

Using rainwater – a free source of water – is logical, practical, and nothing new.

Rainwater can compensate for more than half of the water requirements. Due to

substantial financial savings, the contribution to environmental protection, and the

simplicity of harvesting, the number of rainfall users is continuously growing. In

addition to being free, rainwater contains no mineral substances (unlike freshwater)

which makes it ideal for:

• Watering plants,

• Flushing toilets,

• Washing clothes in washing machines,

• Household cleaning,

• Showering and washing hair because it contains no substances that have an

adverse effect on the scalp.

According to the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (eight-year

average), the meteorological station Zagreb – Maksimir sees:

• 902. L/m² of precipitation per year or

• 15.4 m of precipitation per year per rooftop surf. 150 m² (g/o/k), of which

• 101.57 m or 75 per year can be stored in a cistern.

Save for yourself and for future generations!

The optimum volume of a rainfall water cistern is calculated as follows: Vcistern =

g/o/k x 0.75 x 0.06 = 6.09 m.
