WILD HERBS
the mountains' super food
Healthy. Fresh. Straight from nature. Wild herbs aren't just tasty – they've been used for wellness treatments for
centuries. Would you recognize the herbs growing on a meadow? Would you know how to use them?
CAMOMILE
Picking season and habitat: May to October, often at waysides and field edges
Wellness: Treating common colds, sore throats, sinus complaints, gastritis
Food: Wild herb salad, tea or dessert decoration
Trivia: Camomile and scentless camomile can be distinguished, as the name suggests, by their smell.
Scentless camomile lacks the intense fragrance of true camomiles. Additionally, true camomile features
smaller blossoms measuring roughly 2cm – with scentless camomile, you will find blossoms
up to 4cm in size.
eva tip: Facial steaming with camomile blossoms won't just help with a common cold – it's also very
soothing for the sensitive, stressed facial skin. It has an anti-inflammatory and cleansing effect and therefore
comes highly recommended for blemished skin.
THYME
Picking season and habitat:
May to October, sunny spots
with sandy soil
Wellness:
Bronchitis, common colds, indigestion,
stomach problems, menstrual cramps,
blemished skin
Food:
Spice for meat dishes, thyme honey, thyme potatoes
(tasty alternative to rosemary)
Trivia:
Only consume in moderation
when pregnant.
eva, tip:
A soothing thyme bath will get you back
on your feet – so nothing will stop
you in your holiday.
STINGING NETTLE
Picking season and habitat:
June to September, half-shaded to sunny
locations with damp soil
Wellness:
Urinary, renal and joint complaints,
anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsive, diuretic
and great for the immune system
Food:
Soup, tea, smoothie, prepared like spinach
Trivia:
The stinging hairs
are rendered harmless
by cooking or drying.
eva, tip:
Brew 2 teaspoons of stinging nettle leaves
using 250ml boiling water – leave to draw
for about 10 minutes (2 – 4 cups per day).
