Ski schools and ski school
information
Skiing lessons for all the family
Hit the slopes with the Wilder Kaiser ski schools. Skiing
in the Alps is a dream come true for every winter sports
enthusiast. Wide slopes set against stunning alpine backdrops
beckon you to join in the downhill fun. And with a
large number of ski schools available across the four Kaiser
villages of Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll, nothing
could be easier. Highly qualified ski teachers with decades of
experience offer state-of-the-art lessons at all levels. Beginners
quickly get a feel for the sport and learn to use their
skis well. Those returning to the slopes after a break easily
regain their skills and technique in the relaxed atmosphere
of the lessons. Dedicated children's ski schools ensure that
even the littlest members of your family are not left out:
with fun and age-appropriate lessons, children from the age
of three learn to carve down the slopes like experts in no
time. The varied skiing areas of the Wilder Kaiser offer ideal
practice slopes, fast-paced descents and a wide range of lifts
to turn your skiing holiday into an exhilarating adventure.
SkiWelt night skiing and
Alpeniglu Dorf igloo village
Night skiing
In the evening, SkiWelt Söll – the white arena at the foot
of the Hohe Salve mountain – can be seen lit up from afar.
From Wednesday to Saturday, 10 km of irresistible, freshly
groomed slopes at the largest night skiing area in Tirol
invite you to carve turns in the floodlit snow. Once you have
removed your skis, it’s not far to go to enjoy some aprèsski
fun.
ALPENIGLU® Dorf Igloo Village
A magical world of icy adventure. The snow-covered village
consisting of 18 igloos is located at the mountain station in
Hochbrixen, easily accessible even for night skiers. With an
igloo hotel, restaurant, bar, ice exhibition and sun lounge,
the ALPENIGLU® Dorf Igloo Village is a multifaceted
world of adventure. It revolves all around the stuff winter
dreams are made of: ice. Every winter, international ice
artists create extraordinary sculptures; themes vary each year.
SkiWelt race slopes and
snowbiking
SkiWelt race slopes
A fun adventure for young and old visitors alike. The SkiWelt
speed-tracking race slopes in Brixen im Thale, Ellmau-
Going and Söll let you compete with your friends to find out
exactly how fast you can whizz down the hills on your skis
or snowboard.
Snowbiking
Your eyes on the descent, the handlebars in your fists, powder
snow under your feet and your rear end planted securely in
the saddle: what, mountain-biking on the slopes? Not quite,
but you’re close! We have something even better for you.
Snowbiking combines the dynamism of cycling with the
wintry magic of skiing.
Ski hut fun
Across the SkiWelt, 81 cosy, family-run huts, mountain
restaurants and après-ski bars offer plenty of relaxation
and refreshments for everyone. Every mountain hut is completely
unique. On top of tasty, regional delicacies, guests
get to enjoy regular live music and brilliant events all winter
long.
During the Skihüttengaudi Weeks from 7 to 29 March
2020, the various inns host daily live acts: Austrian folk, DJs
playing hip electro beats, jazz, boogie, rock, you name it. At
the same time, there will be free guided tours of the SkiWelt
from Monday to Friday, each culminating in an après-ski
event at one of the participating huts.
Skiing, snowboarding and
tobogganing
Three fun parks and two obstacle courses (“Hans im Glück”
and “Hexenwelle”) at the heart of SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser –
Brixental offer brilliant free-style adventures. Everyone can
join in the fun, beginners and expert riders alike.
Our two SkiMovie slopes offer plenty of fun and excitement
– on the slopes and, again, on your screens at home. When
you get back to your home or hotel after a fun-filled day
of skiing, enter your ski pass number at www.skiline.cc to
watch your most daring stunts.
Its many natural, well-groomed toboggan runs have
made the Wilder Kaiser region a popular destination for
tobogganists. Four family-friendly toboggan runs with a
combined length of more than 12 kilometres and some
artificially snow-covered sections will get you up to speed in
no time. And you can even enjoy them at night. The Hexenritt
(Witches’ Ride) and Mondrodelbahn (Moon Toboggan Run)
in Söll and the Astberg Toboggan Run in Ellmau/Going are
kept groomed and illuminated after dark.
Ski tours and paragliding
Ski touring
Ski tourers in the Wilder Kaiser region get to experience
the unspoilt wildness of the mountains on unique routes,
accompanied by experienced and certified guides. Various
equipment hire shops provide you with everything you need
to make your tour an unforgettable holiday highlight. Ski
touring at SkiWelt is permitted during opening hours only.
SkiWelt Ellmau hosts touring nights every Thursday from
26 December 2019 to 05 March 2020. The valley ski run is
open for ski tourers until 10 pm. Afterwards, all slopes are
closed off completely for grooming with a winch.
Paragliding
Paragliders get to explore an unparalleled realm of excitement
when they take off from the Hohe Salve, Hartkaiser,
Brandstadl or Choralpe mountains. The stretch between
Wilder Kaiser and Brixental offers perfect conditions for
airborne adventurers.
Llama trekking and horsedrawn
sleigh rides
Llama trekking
A unique winter hike in special company at the foot of the
Wilder Kaiser. Llama mama Ruth and her llamas will
accompany you on this winter hike, which takes you directly
from the farm in Ellmau to the romantic winter landscape
of the Wilder Kaiser. Everyone is allowed to lead a llama - a
special experience for all animal lovers!
Horse-drawn sleigh rides
Uncover the peaceful side of winter by taking a romantic
trip on a horse-drawn sleigh and discover the villages in the
Wilder Kaiser region at a relaxing pace as the coachman tells
you stories about the old farmhouses. Breathe in the crisp
winter air as dusk falls and see out the day snuggled under
the warmth of a fur blanket.
KaiserBad spa and climbing
hall
Kaiserbad Ellmau is a spa situated at the foot of the majestic
mountain range. Take in the spectacular views of the peaks
while enjoying a thorough pampering in the warm sauna
jacuzzi.
Visitors of the Kaiserbad spa in Ellmau also get to immerse
themselves in a majestic water landscape featuring an
indoor adventure pool with a lazy river leading to the
outdoor section. A winter slide offers plenty of fun even
in the cold months.
For a few hours of peace and tranquillity, head to the
thermal spa with its herbal sauna, chamomile steam bath,
eucalyptus grotto, a Finnish sauna in a Tirolean block
house, water loungers and relaxing infrared cabins.
If you’d rather get active, the tennis and climbing halls
are for you.
“Der Bergdoktor”
The home of the “Bergdoktor” – just like on screen
The German-Austrian series “Der Bergdoktor” is currently
the most successful prime-time show on German television.
And it has been filmed right here in the Wilder Kaiser region
since 2007. The “Der Bergdoktor” winter hike or horsedrawn
carriage ride will take you to the most spectacular
filming locations of the show.
Tip: During the Fandays in May and the Bergdoktor Show
in October, the stars of the show come to the Wilder Kaiser
region to spend time with their fans.
GETTING AROUND THE WILDER KAISER REGION
Wilder Kaiser GuestCard
You will receive the Wilder Kaiser GuestCard free of charge
from your host. You can choose between the printed and
digital version. The ticket gives you free access to all ski and
winter hiking buses and all public buses in the region. You
also get to join the free guided winter hikes offered by the local
tourist destinations, tours from our activity programme,
and other shops will give you discounts. The same (with the
exception of free access to public buses) applies to the Bürger-
Card, StaffCard and FreizeitwohnsitzCard tickets.
Ski buses and winter hiking buses
Numerous free ski buses transport guests to the local valley
stations from all villages at regular intervals.
Tip 1: By taking advantage of the cable car’s ski storage
facilities, you can ride the ski bus in comfortable shoes with
no equipment!
Tip 2: The ski buses also transport guests to more distant
districts, therefore enabling winter hikers to explore the
region. Visit the romantic Hintersteiner See lake in Scheffau
by ski bus.
Ice skating, ice stock sport and
cross-country skiing
The Wilder Kaiser ice skating rinks in Going and Söll
are fun-filled destinations for any family holiday. Slide
Snowshoe hiking
When the rays of the sun make the snow on the Wilder Kaiser
glisten, nature truly comes into its own. All you need to do
is explore and enjoy. A snowshoe hike on off-road alpine
trails is the perfect opportunity. Depending on the terrain
and speed, snowshoe hiking can be a challenging sport or
a leisure activity for all the family. No matter which of the
four villages you pick as a starting point for your snowshoe
hike, we guarantee that you will find the right equipment in
the Zimmerau Wilder Kaiser region. Experienced guides are available
for individual or group tours through the deep snow.
Childcare and family skiing
The region offers all-day childcare facilities on the mountain
and in the valley for even the smallest of children, enabling
parents to discover the 284 kilometres of slopes offered at
the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental all by themselves.
At KiKo, children can play in and around an old farmhouse
and are looked after by childminders from the Söll-Hochsöll
ski school. The Kornkammer childcare centre is right next
to the Söll valley station and can be booked for toddlers
(1–2½ years) and young children who want to learn to ski
(2½–5 years).
The Snow Pirates Kids Club is located right beside the
Brandstadl mountain station in Scheffau at the heart of the
SkiWelt. Parents get to embark on a day of carefree skiing,
safe in the knowledge that their little ones (0–4 years) are
being taken care of and enjoying their own adventures
inside or outside at 1,650 metres above sea level.
Ellmi’s Kids Club at the Hartkaiserbahn mountain station
(1,520 m) in Ellmau provides the region’s young visitors (2–5
years) with a very special home for the day. The children are
cared for in a safe, secure environment by trained childminders
and can look forward to activities and a lot of fun, including
the chance to have a go at skiing and much, much more.
Another incredibly family-friendly offer: the Jungfamilienkarte
(young-family ticket) is the ultimate ticket for all
parents with small children up to the age of 3 (born in
2016). Tickets are available for 3–14 days and can be used
alternatingly by both parents. This makes the young-family
ticket the only transferable ticket available at SkiWelt.
SkiWelt Family Ski Weeks
Children up to age 15 FREE OF CHARGE! Once more, Ski-
Welt lives up to its reputation as a family-friendly ski resort.
During the off-season periods of 7–20 December 2019 and
14 March–13 April 2020, all children up to age 15 get to ski
for free. The only condition: one parent buys a ski pass valid
for at least 3 days for all children aged 15 and under (born in
2004–2013) to go free during the same period (season tickets
excluded).
