MORE THAN JUST<br />
A DANCE SCHOOL<br />
The Patricia Paul School of Dance has been<br />
providing excellence in dance education in<br />
Christchurch for over 20 years, with venues<br />
in Fendalton, Thorrington, Harewood and<br />
North New Brighton.<br />
The syllabus followed for ballet is the<br />
Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) and for<br />
jazz, contemporary and hip hop it is The<br />
New Zealand Academy of Modern Dance<br />
(N.Z.A.M.D.).<br />
The school has had many successful<br />
students that have gone on to careers<br />
in dance and theatre including: Marysa<br />
Dalton, Royal NZ Ballet, Sacha Copeland, a<br />
contemporary dancer and choreographer,<br />
Kase Craig, who was accepted into the<br />
prestigious Australian Ballet School in<br />
Melbourne at the age of 15 and is now a<br />
professional dancer in the Ballet de L’Opera<br />
National de Bordeaux in France, and the<br />
international singing star Hayley Westenra.<br />
The school’s goal is to be more than just<br />
a dance school. They are passionate about<br />
educating their students mentally as well<br />
as physically to build their self-esteem and<br />
confidence.<br />
The classes Patricia offers are for children<br />
from three years old, with pre-school ballet<br />
designed to nurture a child’s interest in<br />
movement and expression, and jazz and<br />
tumble classes for children from seven years<br />
old. Goal-setting is also good for them so<br />
exams are offered to students over the age<br />
of seven, if they wish to do them, Patricia<br />
says.<br />
There will be a free introductory dance<br />
class in February 2020 before the first term<br />
starts, to see if your child enjoys it.<br />
