However, I wouldconsider my soul to be with all animals.I realized my purpose in life, at a veryyoung age, and have always known thatI wanted to be around them and/orwork in the animal industry. As a child,I read and studied dog breeds so that ismy little secret that most people don’tknow but it has helped me understandthe needs of breeds which in turn helpexplain them to their owners.What do you look for most in ateammate?A great teammate will be open tolearning, have patience, be self-less,accountable and have a true passionfor pets. Many times, ego is involvedin our decisions and if we can beconscious enough to understandand change that, we can make betterdecisions and be a better team playeran overall better person.What do youlove most aboutyour business?I absolutelylove trade showsand being aroundall sorts of petproducts and ofcourse the manydogs I get toplay with. Theminute I see onemy attentionimmediatelydirects me tothem regardlessof what I amdoing. Not alwaysa good thing but Ican’t help it.How did a petinfluence yourbusiness?Our businesswas created dueto my partnersGreat Dane, Mojo’s, shedding problem.His short dense coat became so muchof a problem that Jeff, my partner,decided to make his own de-sheddingtool, the King Komb, since other similarproducts didn’t help and so the KingKomb was designed to help withhis problem. Now we have an entirecompany, with 16 products, that cantell the story of how a very special bigboy brought us together.What trait do you possess thatserves you best in business?I believe my ability to be detailedoriented serves my team the best. I amthe behind the scenes kind of personthat takes care of many little things thatare needed to run a business, but mostforget about them. I have a very goodmemory so that also comes in handy!What does leadership mean to you?Leadership is knowing & decidingwhat to do at the right time eventhough you aren’t sure what to do butyou evoke the confidence and poiseneeded to decide. It is treating allmembers of your team, or those youmeet, with the same respect.
