Break It Up!
We take a look at trendy transition flooring to find out how
to mix and match textures and materials to best effect
“Wood needs to
have a perimeter expansion
gap where it meets any solid objects,
if not it can expand and damage a tile or
itself. Here, Concrete Natural Grey floor panels
run seamlessly into rustic oak planks. This works
because both the concrete and the wood have the
same tongue and grooved profiles and, critically,
are both fully bonded to the sub floor underneath
with a flexible adhesive. This flexibility allows the
wood to expand and contract and the concrete
panels to move without being damaged.”
“The key to
making a transition look
good is to make a gradient. You
have to gradually mix the pieces
until you get a smooth transition.
We manage to do this because our
formats are modular to each other
and we can make transitions
without having to cut pieces.”
