SPORTS NEWS Beaconsfield Rugby - enjoyed by all The club is enjoying a fantastic year, with Chairman Chris Summers at the helm, and a tireless and enthusiastic committee. We have more than 1,000 members, with 463 Mini players, and 185 Youth players. The senior club consistently fields three teams. One of the key foundations of the club’s senior successes has been the number of colts and young players representing the senior sides. We are also very fortunate in youth that over half of the coaches are still playing themselves. The traditional distinction between “Saturday Senior” and “Sunday Mini and Youth” has all but disappeared, with fantastic integration and cross-fertilisation being achieved between all parts of the club. The club is proud to be a community club with 83 schools and colleges represented in our Mini and Youth sections. Richard N Gommo On the field, we are delighted to finally be able to offer rugby to ladies and girls, and on a Saturday have the potential to put out four senior men’s teams. Our new Head Coach, Tom French, is an ex Wasps and England Saxon. Off the field, the club has ambitious plans to update and expand the club house to both improve the existing facilities for our existing members and to make our changing rooms suitable for the girls and ladies. All in all, BRFC is a great place to be for the whole family, both on and off the field. New members of every level are made to feel very welcome: come and join us! Oak Lodge Meadow, Windsor End, Beaconsfield, HP9 2SQ t: 01494 673 783 w: www.beaconsfieldrfc.co.uk RAMS - Beaconsfield Town FC The area’s premier Non-League football club, Beaconsfield Town FC, was honoured recently to be chosen by the FA to host training sessions by the National Under 20 sides of England and Iceland prior to their fixture at Wycombe’s Adams Park - testament to the fine playing surface and facilities on offer at Holloways Park. Hopefully this will be the first of many such tie-ups with the various National Squads The ground is also used on a regular basis as the location for the many movies and TV shows that are filmed in the area. Recent productions that have utilized Holloways Park include Ricky Gervais filming “Afterlife”, Simon Pegg recording “Truth Seekers” and Maisie Williams shooting “Two Weeks to Live”. Added to those are ITV’s “Midsomer Murders” and BBC’s “The Forge”, both of which have found the ground to be an ideal base for their needs. On the football side of things, it’s fair to say that the First Team are having a ‘difficult’ second season at Step 3 level of the Non League pyramid, the highest the club has ever played. The newly launched Under 18 side, however, are doing brilliantly, which bodes well for the future, and already some of the youngsters have made the step up to the First XI.
