Parent Teacher Home Visit ProjectTo ensure our students received the wrap-around support neededfor their success, Harmony Public Schools launched its Home VisitProgram nearly a decade ago. The program is designed tobuild unity and trust between families and Harmony staff, givingteachers and parents the insight into student developmentneeded to provide students educational support.Building a relationship is the main purpose of the home visit in ourengagement & support system. HPS Parent Volunteer Program - VOLYHarmony Public Schools is committed to building community byengaging and equipping families and stakeholders to be ourstudents’ strongest supporters. Volunteering in a school is anexperience and a privilege for both the school and the volunteer.It is designed to promote and maintain a supportive relationshipwith the students, teachers, and school staff.By providing a quick, easy way for people to find volunteeropportunities, HPS will increase the strength of not only yourchild’s school but the community surrounding it. In order to do thiseffectively, HPS provides an easy-to-use volunteer managementsystem: VOLY (harmony.voly.org) which helps parents and schoolsto easily identify and register for volunteer hours.There are many volunteer opportunities available at your campus,some of the ways you can help: monitor playground/cafeteria,chaperone field trips, tutor students, read aloud to students, assistwith dismissal, be a judge for school/district science fair, and manymore.Parents and community member may become a volunteer at HPSwith four easy steps:1. Parent ActivitiesParent engagement in schools is defined as parents and schoolstaff working together to support and improve the learning,development, and health of children and adolescents. We believeparents play a significant role in supporting their children’seducation, guiding their children successfully through schoolprocesses, and advocating for their children and for theeffectiveness of schools.Harmony Public Schools organizes events to make a positiveconnection with parents and provides a variety of activities andfrequent opportunities to fully engage parents including schoolpicnics, back to school BBQs, parenting workshops, academicnights, family science fairs, in and out-of-state trips, coffee withthe principal, muffins with moms, donuts with dads, cookies withgrandparents, family board game nights, HPS Parent Academy,monthly learning night, career days, talent shows and many more.4.
