EAST Meets West When the green and lush beauty of the east meets the breathtaking landscapes of the west, you can bet that you have an appointment with richness and diversity. This is the case for one of the most spectacular sites on the Big Island perfect for nature lovers, Andohahela National Park. But perhaps the most surprising thing is the juxtaposition of three climates, the three worlds of Andohahela. In the east, a humid and dense tropical forest dominates under a hot and humid climate; in contrast, a semi-arid dry forest created by a hot and dry climate, typical of the west and between its two universes, is a transition zone with a warm climate and average rainfall. With its unique characteristics called 'triecosystem', this UNESCO World Heritage protected area is one of the most spectacular sites on the Big Island.
