Seven unlocked vehicles entered in one night, some items stolen
Seven unlocked vehicles
reportedly were entered the
night of Jan. 26.
Four vehicles, in total,
were reportedly left
unlocked and entered in
the Country View/Royal
Meadows Subdivision.
A resident in the 1500
block of West Centurion
Lane reportedly had two
of their unlocked vehicles
entered while they were
parked in their driveway
overnight. Wallet and cash
were taken from the vehicles,
police said. A resident
in the 2700 block of Daniel
Lewis Drive reportedly
had two of their unlocked
vehicles entered while they
were parked in the driveway
overnight. A laptop
was taken.
Across town, three more
unlocked vehicles were
entered in Wildwood Club
Estates neighborhood.
A resident in the 600
block of Central Road reportedly
had their unlocked
vehicle entered while it was
parked in their driveway
overnight. Nothing appeared
taken from the vehicle.
Another resident in the
same block also had their
unlocked vehicle entered.
Nothing appeared taken.
A vehicle in the resident’s
driveway was locked and
undisturbed, police said.
A resident in the 700
block of Misty Creek Drive
reportedly had two of their
unlocked vehicles entered
while they were parked in
their driveway overnight. A
pair of sunglasses was taken
from one vehicle, a garage
door opener was taken
from the other and the garage
was entered. Nothing
appeared missing from the
garage, police said.
Jan. 25
• A male subject reportedly
stole more than 40 bottles
of alcohol from Jewel-Osco,
2021 E. Laraway Road.
The value of the alcohol
was approximately $3,900.
Jan. 24
• A resident in the 300 block
of Hillside Road reportedly
had their unlocked vehicle
entered. A Nintendo Switch
gaming console was stolen.
• A resident in the 22000
block of S. Country Lane
reportedly had their unlocked
work vehicle entered
and a backpack containing
paperwork and a
calculator was stolen.
Jan. 22
• A male subject reportedly
stole more than 30 bottles
of alcohol from Jewel-Osco,
475 Nelson Road. The
value of the alcohol was
over $1,600.

Sprinklers help spare
animals after pet store
catches fire
Orland Fire Protection
District officials are saying
the activation of a
sprinkler system helped to
ensure all animals were in
good condition following
a fire the evening of Jan.
27 at an Orland Park pet
store.
The incident took place
around 8:15 p.m. that evening
at Chicago Fish and
Coral Company/Chicago
Birdhouse, in the 14400
block of John Humphrey
Drive, according to Ray
Hanania, a spokesperson
for Orland Fire. The district
got both an alarm
and 911 call regarding the
fire, and arrived to find a
“small” fire near the front
door, Hanania said.
The sprinkler system
had activated by the time
fire firefighters made entry
to extinguish the blaze
and begin ventilation of
the store, Hanania said.
The owner of the pet
store assessed all animals
and found them to be in
good condition, Hanania
said. The animals remain
on site, and one window
broken for ventilation has
been sealed, according to
Orland Fire.
The cause of the fire remains
under investigation
as of the afternoon of Jan.
28.

High School graduate Tim
Gaba wanted to build a
gym that had a welcoming
atmosphere, and, armed
with that vision, he started
Perfect Shape Fitness in
January 2015.
Located at 703 E. 9th
St. in Lockport, Perfect
Shape Fitness celebrated
its grand reopening Jan.
18. And the gym is offering
specials on its group
training, one-on-one
training, and a raffle to
give away T-shirts, hooded
sweaters and water
bottles.
Gaba said the gym
has added more strength
equipment, such as squat
racks, barbells, dumbbells
and benches. The flooring
also has been upgraded to
rubber, and on Feb. 1 an
introduction to powerlifting
was offered, along
with new class times to
better serve clients.
