Would you know what to do in an

emergency?

♥ Every week in Scotland, 70 people suffer cardiac

arrest.

♥ More than 3500 people per year in Scotland are

treated by the Ambulance Service following a

cardiac arrest.

♥ Only one in 20 people will survive.

♥ Without resuscitation, cardiac arrest is always fatal

♥ But, performing CPR could double that person’s chance of

survival

Heartstart courses are free of charge and it only takes two hours to

learn the skills which may someday save a life:

♥ CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

♥ Heart Attack ♥ Recovery position

♥ Choking

♥ Serious bleeding

To learn the simple skills that save lives, contact Morag Thow on

07868 752814 to book onto one of our courses in 2020:

Tuesday 17th March 7pm -9pm Lochwinnoch Masonic Lodge

If you have a group in the Lochwinnoch/Howwood area that would

like a Heart Start Course, Liz and Morag are pleased to come to

your group to deliver the course.

Kilbarchan Habbies’ Art Group Post-

Christmas Lunch

This year we broke with tradition. Instead of our usual December

Christmas lunch we decided to organise a buffet mid-January in the

Kilbarchan Guide Centre where our classes are held. In December

a small group checked out one of the best known sources of fine

foods and wines, and compiled a list of tempting items for our

menu. The group duly returned in January only to find several

items discontinued. This entailed scouring local shops to make up

the shortfall. Thankfully, the Prosecco had been purchased well in

advance. We had to think of priorities !

The big day dawned and our group of enthusiastic helpers turned

up, suitably attired and equipped, ready for action. Everyone

worked hard to produce a wonderful selection of truly tempting

dishes - so much for the January diet ! After the meal the raffle

prizes were handed out to lucky winners, and everyone voted a

very big thank you to our Chairperson, Irene, who put so much time

and work into organising the lunch. Also helpers and friends were

thanked for their efforts to make the day a success.

We are all now back

happily painting

away, working

towards our next

exhibition - hopefully,

the Kilbarchan Habbies art group !!

in September/

October. In the

meantime we can

look forward to our

annual trip. This

year we are heading

to Edinburgh’s

Botanic Gardens and,

possibly, on towards

Musselburgh if the

day is wet. The fun

never stops ! Not

just an art group -

Chairperson, Irene (centre), with helpers, Irene, Nan and

Joseph. Class member, Stephen (extreme left) is checking the

wine !

Hooray! Your file is uploaded and ready to be published.
