This may bethanks to its now affordabilityand higher efficiency,attracting millions and millionsof consumers worldwide.Since the introduction of solarpanels to the world, we weretold that they are meant to beplaced on rooftops and largeportions of land. However,some experts today aresuggesting to put them in arather unconventional area: onreservoirs and other bodies ofwater.This may pose seriousconcerns and questions, butstudies have shown excellentenergy-generating potential ofthis new technology. Severalcountries across the globeare already investing andoperating their own floatingsolar panel farms.What really makesfloatovoltaics an attractiveoption is that it gives flexibilityon where solar farms shouldbe installed. Instead ofacquiring large areas ofunused land, those utilizingthis renewable energy cannow tap the potential of nearbywater systems and reservoirs.This is rather beneficial forcountries, such as Japan,which has limited land androof space to accommodatesolar panels.Floating Solar FarmsExplainedThe cost of installation offloating solar panels is alsogreatly reduced, all whileproducing significantly moreenergy than those panelsin the all. The panels alsodon’t necessarily disrupt thewater ecosystem as theycontribute very little impact tothe maritime life — all of thiswithout wasting valuable realestate and properties.With high durability andlonger lifetime, floatovoltaicswould greatly reduce thecost of energy production, aswell, eventually decreasingconsumer bills in the long run.With some countries alreadyon the move to funding floatingphotovoltaic projects, it willnot be long enough before thepopularity of this technologyskyrockets.4
