The Government have issued anupdate regarding the banning on sellingnew petrol, diesel and now hybrid carsfrom 2035 onwards, which will give manypeople a dilemma in terms of what to buyover the coming years. Consumers will onlybe able to buy electric or hydrogen cars andvans once the ban comes into effect.Climate change is at the forefront ofdebate and many believe that the electricvehicle is the only way forward if thecountry is to hit the ambitious targetset for 2050 of net zero emissions. But,we continue to be wary of the lack ofinfrastructure currently within our shores.There will need to be a total re-think froma driver perspective in terms of routeplanning and the extra time needed tore-charge if necessary.In this issue, VLS Chairman AndrewGoddard talks about the challengesfacing the lubricants industry and theincreasing importance of the role of electricvehicles. Denso also talk about the needfor parts manufacturers to evolve existingtechnologies and develop new ones in orderto offer the most innovative and reliableparts for these engine types.Then we come to the topic of theautonomous car. We speak to AnsibleMotion on the issues on potential motionsickness. Many people feel queasy whilsttravelling as a passenger or even whenreading in the car, it can make somepeople turn green.
