Katha India Celebrates Successful

Completion of Three Decades

Pioneering publisher of

children’s books in India,

Katha celebrated the

successful completion of 30

years. At its recently

concluded annual three-day

festival, Katha Utsav, held

between the 26th to the 28th of

December, 2018, the non-profit

organisation commemorated highlights

of its momentous three decade long

journey.

The Chief Guest of the event was the

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi,Mr

Manish Sisodia, who congratulated the

Katha team on the great work it is doing.

“Through its unique Story pedagogy,

Katha integrates social education with

formal education and skill education.

There will always be a need for the kind

of work the organisation is doing. Thank

you to the entire team at Katha for

showing us the way to learn and live!”

Mr Sisodia said.

This year’s event received a tremendous

response with participation from 450

students from various cities across the

country. The three-day festival had an

exciting lineup consisting of workshops

for young writers from different regions,

a number of stimulating Katha Talks,

Challenge Grounds, discussions and

awards. Prior to the grand finale—the

Katha National Writers’ Workshop at the

Ridge Valley School, Gurgaon.

The Katha Talks at the Utsav were

inaugurated by Bharatnatyam Guru

SonalMansingh. Thereafter, there was a

series of talks based on two different

themes by eminent speakers from

various fields.

For the last 30 years, Katha has

transformed the lives of over one million

children by helping them bring

themselves out of poverty and live a

better life. Through its various

programmes, Katha has served children

in government schools in 1,002 slum

communities and brought 9.2 million

children and youth into the joy of

reading. The Katha Lab School in the

Govindpuri slum of New Delhi has till

date created value for 1,91,190 children,

many of whom work as entrepreneurs, in

the government or in various companies.
