WORDS OF WISDOM
8 th Grade Memories
In science class, building the machines- “I thought this was going to be
fun!” “It doesn’t work!” “Can I start over?” KH and her supply of snacks in
her locker, JH and his perpetual pile of papers and school supplies
surrounding his desk, PB and his cheesecake business, JP and his astounding
AR goals, CD my reliable PA, who kept track of my copy folder, and was
always so helpful, to AS, AR, MR, AJ, MK, AG, KH, who surprised me by
turning our classroom into a magical Christmas wonderland, to EA for being
the first with the hammer-“Do we have to bring our binders?” and scary
handwriting, on his own evolutionary journey-not unlike a rock, to RL and
AB streaking through the hallways to be on time for class, Making
landforms- AG’s magnificent towering hoodoo, DV’s dough running off the
foam board and his encyclopedia-like knowledge of WWII, AL’s beautiful
archipelago and handwriting, VW’s wonderful home wizard experiments
with making dough, and cheery smile everyday. The most excellent
Renaissance Faire-sewing their clothes and learning the hard way about the
bottom line in business, with AW and LN as butchers and meat purveyors,
keeping everyone fed, and EA and JN industrious shoe makers-who made
very little money, and AJ and NF, our German bakers who were early
pretzel kings, and JF who told fortunes and collected a huge amount of
merchandise. AD and her Eeyore-like perspective on early morning science,
and all of you for the countless small things, that are even more valuable
and precious because of this time apart. I wish you all good things as you
move forward not only in school, but in life. Please remember, to respect
yourself and not forget your religious upbringing and roots, and know that
God has a plan for you, even if you might not recognize it for yourself right
now. I will miss you.
Be well,
Mrs. Jones
