Benefts of
Summer Sessions
• Sample a feld before formal
application to a degree program
• Take professional development courses
without enrollment in a degree program
• Pursue personal interests in the arts,
humanities, literature, philosophy and
many other felds
• Take a few courses or units to complete
a university degree, meet continuing
education requirements or qualify for a
pay increase
• Improve your grade point average
if you have been turned down for
admission by the university, or if your
frst attempt at college courses was
less than successful. If you have been
academically disqualifed from the
university or denied admission because
of a grade point defciency, you can
enroll in Summer Session and get a
second chance to show your
true potential.
• Complete prerequisites for majors or
advanced degrees or complete
requirements for a degree begun at
another university. Credits earned through
Open University can be applied toward
your future degree.
