Prisoners in the mine
In a distant land, 50 prisoners were held by a Native American tribe. These had to work
for the tribal leader in a mine.
One day, when the tribal leader turned 50, he decided to give his prisoners a chance
to regain their freedom. He took them all into the darkness of the mine and put a hat
on everyone. Then he said to them, "I put a hat on each of you - either black or white.
At the same time you will be let out of the mine one by one. Your task is to arrange
yourselves in a row sorted by color: those with the black hats on the left, those with the
white hats on the right. You must not communicate with each other or look at your own
hat. If you succeed, you will receive the freedom. "
Develop a way for the prisoners to accomplish this task.
