Seniors enjoy<br />

sweet sounds<br />

On <strong>June</strong> 4th, 2020 Kootenay<br />

Seniors organized a small<br />

event for the residents of<br />

Kiwanis Villa to mark seniors’<br />

week (<strong>June</strong> 1-8, 2020.) Two<br />

young musicians played their<br />

guitars and sang beautifully for<br />

the residents. Seniors were able<br />

to sit on their front porch and<br />

enjoy the music at a safe distance.<br />

Kootenay Seniors provided<br />

masks, gloves, and hand<br />

sanitizer to the seniors, and<br />

maintained COVID 10 safety<br />

protocols. It was a very enjoyable<br />

afternoon.<br />

The musician’s names were<br />

Brooklyn Robertson and Cole<br />

Senger. Brooklyn grew up in<br />

Campbell River and was taught<br />

to sing by her father. She mentioned<br />

she has “been singing as<br />

long as I can remember, and<br />

never took lessons.” Cole grew<br />

up in Armstrong and studied<br />

Music Composition and Technology<br />

at Selkirk College.<br />

Kootenay Seniors wanted<br />

to provide the seniors some<br />

entertainment to lift their spirits.<br />

The event was funded by<br />

Columbia Basin Trust through<br />

the Kootenay Seniors Intergenerational<br />

project. The project<br />

aims to reduce social isolation<br />

of seniors in Nelson and<br />
