resort for all those who seek and love personal 

challenges. High alpine means: We start where others

can be freely selected (e.g. 2 in 4 days, 3 in 6

Bergbahnen AG charges a one-time fee of 

CHF 5 (per RFID data medium, key card). 

These cards become the property of the 

purchaser and can be used repeatedly, as 

well as in several other ski regions. The ski 

pass can also be purchased online with the 

key card.

EXCURSION TIPS 

-> Britannia Hut, Saas-Fee 

3030m 

Erected in 1912 by British members of the 

Alpenclub (which is why it’s called ‘Britannia’), 

it is one of the most visited SAC huts in 

the entire Alps and serves as a starting point 

for the Haute Route and other high-alpine 

tours. Hiking time from Felskinn mountain 

station is approx. 90 min. 

Note: The Britannia Hut is open from mid- 

June. You can check the current opening 

hours in advance with the mountain hut 

attendant or at the Tourist Information 

Centres (p. 68/69). 

-> Hannig–Saas-Fee 

2336m 

Our sun-drenched mountain offers various 

hiking trails and a mountain restaurant with 

a large sun terrace for relaxation. For children, 

there is a playground and free-roaming 

marmots to watch. A scooter route 

runs from Hannig back to the village. 

-> Kreuzboden–Saas-Grund 

2400m 

You can hike or simply enjoy the Kreuzboden. 

The mountain restaurant’s panoramic 

terrace also invites you to sit back and relax. 

For little ones there is Hohsi-Land: a unique 

playground with a petting zoo from mid-July 

to mid-August. There are also some climbing 

tours starting from Kreuzboden. 

-> Mittelallalin–Saas-Fee 

3500m 

The Mittelallalin is the hallmark of Saas-Fee 

and should not be left out on your itinerary. 

Travel on the world’s highest metro to visit 

the world’s highest revolving restaurant and 

a 5,500 square metre Ice Pavilion. 

Note: The Metro Alpin is not included in 

the SaastalCard. 

-> Spielboden–Saas-Fee

Spielboden is the natural habitat of many 

marmot families and the location of a restaurant 

with an amazing sun terrace. 

-> Längfluh–Saas-Fee 

2870m 

Längfluh gets you the closest you can be to 

the glacier. The high glacier break-offs are 

fascinating; the highest mountain in Switzerland 

– the Dom – towers majestically at 

4,545 metres. 

-> Hohsaas–Saas-Grund 

3200m 

There are 18 good reasons to visit Hohsaas. 

The themed trail ‘18 Viertausender’ (18 Fourthousanders) 

awaits you there, and there is 

an information board available for every 

summit. The panoramic restaurant also offers 

a view of all four-thousanders.

2200m 

Here you’ll find Europe’s largest natural reservoir 

with a panoramic restaurant. Once 

you have arrived at the 780 metre-long dam, 

you can wander around the reservoir or hike 

to the Monte Moro Pass. 

-> Furggstalden, Saas-Almagell 

1893m 

Take the chairlift from Saas-Almagell to the 

region’s oldest hamlet: Furggstalden, which 

boasts two restaurants. From here you can 

also reach beautiful Almagelleralp in just 

one hour. You can return to Saas-Almagell 

by scooter or on foot. 

-> Heidbodme, Saas-Almagell 

2400m 

Heidbodme observation point, with its 

mountain restaurant, provides a unique panorama 

of the Mischabel massif and particularly 

the Monte-Rosa massif.

the Saas-Fee car park. Guests travelling by 

public transport can use the complimentary

WASTE DISPOSAL 

In Saas-Fee and Saas-Almagell, waste 

sacks that have been purchased can be 

deposited in the waste sheds (small wooden 

sheds spread out all over the village). In 

Saas-Balen and Saas-Grund, they are placed 

at the kerbside every Tuesday and Friday 

morning. Please only use official waste 

sacks. These can be purchased at supermarket 

checkouts (also as single waste 

sacks). Paper, used glass, aluminium and 

PET bottles should be recycled at the following
