discovery earthly journeys Catch Our Drift Earthly Journeys is a new experiential tourism company on the Sunshine Coast. An experiential tour, simply put, provides the opportunity to learn something by doing something with someone who lives here. A more in-depth view showcases this as responsible tourism. Catch Our Drift achieves responsibility on three levels. For the traveller, it is an opportunity to immerse oneself quickly in local culture in a hands-on and interactive way, which is both meaningful and enjoyable to the person experiencing it. For the community, there is the economic benefit of dollars being spent locally, but the real value is found in empowering community members to share their passions. It builds local pride and confidence and is also culturally sensitive, fostering respect between tourists and hosts. Understanding comes from knowing. For the environment, the journey guides have inspirational messages about life on Earth. One of the core elements of a Catch Our Drift journey is consciousness. This can be shared by guides in a variety of ways: recycling plastic taster spoons at the gelato shop, providing tips for building a “green” home or raising organic chickens, or working with a fine artist to really see a subject you’re working on; from learning how to find food in the forest to remembering your experience through sketches in your travel journal and through shared stories and conversations. Sunshine Coasters have so much wisdom to share, and this is a wonderful opportunity to tap into it. It can be deep or it can be subtle, and if you’re open to it, it will definitely be fun! Catch Our Drift Earthly Journeys provides unique local experiences to visitors on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
