Good lighting withoutdark zones lowers the risk of accidents,facilitates orientation and makesvehicles, persons and obstacles easierto recognise.For indoor car parks, DIN EN 12464-1stipulates a minimum of 300 lux illuminanceat vehicle entrances and exits during theday. If the barrier is not in the same zone,[39] Vehicle entrances and exits need to beilluminated to at least 75 lux at night.[40] Uniform lighting with comfortable illuminancemakes for greater safety in enclosedparking facilities.it should be separately illuminated to facilitateuse of the key card reader. At night, atleast 75 lux is required throughout the parkingarea. However, more light is useful –and makes for greater safety for pedestriansand motorists. At the same time, goodlighting is an effective safeguard againstcriminal assault. Luminaires are installed onthe left and right of access ramps andshould provide uniform lighting. Appropriateenclosures and precise alignment preventmotorists being dazzled; a high degreeof protection prevents damage due tomoisture and dirt.LEDs and lighting managementThe lighting in enclosed parking facilitiesis often in operation 24 hours a day. Sooperators are interested in minimising theoperating costs. Explain to your customerhow those costs can be saved:LED light sources are an optimal option.They are very energy-efficient, easilycontrollable and insensitive to cold. Andthey have a very long life, which cutsmaintenance costs. The emergencylighting required in enclosed parkingfacilities can also be easily integrated inLED systems.Electronic lighting management makesfor considerable savings and additionalcomfort. It includes presence detectors,for example, which activate lightingand automatically raise the brightnesswhen vehicles or persons approach.If the parking facility is also served bydaylight, intelligent control adjusts theartificial lighting as required.Where operating times are long and electricityprices are rising, the capital costsof a refurbishment measure are quicklyrecouped.
