ECO-DASalso includes predictive energymanagement, using gradientdata from the navigationsystem to assist the controland operation of the battery,motor and Atkinson Cyclecombustion engine. WhenECO-DAS predicts an upcomingincline, the combustion engineis used to pre-charge thebattery, which in turn providesthe combustion engine withan increased assistance whenthe vehicle starts to climb,increasing powertrain efficiency.In contrast, when ECO-DASdetects an upcoming descent,the battery will automaticallyincrease its assistance, or takeover from the combustionengine until the descent isreached, at which point ECO-DAS will automatically useregenerative braking to reclaimany stored charge used,minimising fuel consumptionand maximising the potentialof the electrified powertrainsystem.mobilitynews26
