SEAT sales continue to growwith an increase of more than7% year-to-dateSEAT sales continued torise in August. The effectof the WLTP procedure,which led to a sharp rise inregistrations in Europe inAugust 2018 and an overalldecrease in the market in thesame month this year, did nothamper a new monthly recordfor SEAT.In August, companydeliveries amounted to42,100 cars, which is 2%more than in the same monththe previous year (41,200)and 41.6% higher than thefigure recorded in August2017 (29,700).SEAT’s 2019 year-to-datefigure amounts to 411,600vehicles delivered - 7.2%higher than last year (January-August 2018: 384,000). Withthis result, the carmakerbroke the record posted inthe same period in 2018.CUPRA* sales alsocontinued their upward trendand rose by 70.6% fromJanuary to August to a total of17,100 vehicles. With just fourmonths left until the end ofthe year, the new brand hasalready greatly exceeded itssales figure recorded for all of2018 (14,400 units).SEAT Vice-president forSales and Marketing andCUPRA CEO Wayne Griffithsunderscored that, “theAugust result continuesthe performance we havebeen setting in Europe in2019: despite a difficultenvironment, we areincreasing sales and gainingmarket share throughout theyear. We trust our results willcontinue to improve and wewill sustain this growth in theremainder of the year.”SEAT’s global sales rosefrom January to August,mainly driven by the resultsin Germany, France and Italy.Germany (94,800 vehicles;+14.1%), Spain (80,000;+1.2%) and the UK (46,800;+3.5%) are still the leadingmarkets in terms of volume.In Germany and the UK, SEATobtained the best historicsales results up to August,and in Spain it was the topsellingbrand, wideningthe gap compared to itscompetitors. France and Italycomplete the list of top 5markets, with an increase of14.9% (24,800 vehicles) and20.7% (18,400), respectively.SEAT’s sustained doubledigitgrowth in Switzerland(8,800 cars; +10.9%), theNetherlands (8,300 cars;+31.2%), Sweden (6,300;+21.8%) and Denmark (5.200;+45.2%), and achievedabove market averageresults in Austria (15,900;+2.7%), Portugal (7,900;+6.8%) and Ireland (3,900;+9.7%).
