nautical vase
Give your empty bottles a coastal look
with an easy to make fisherman’s net.
You will need
✽ Bottles, clean and dry
✽ Twine, 7 lengths, each 7 x height of bottle
What to do
1 Fold six of the lengths in half to form loops and
lie them out horizontally next to each other. Lay the
seventh over the top, just shy of the looped ends.
2 Thread the cut ends of each of the six lengths
through the loop and pull tight to form a knot
around the seventh length.
3 Holding the two ends of the single string, wrap it
around the bottle. Secure with a double knot.
4 Working around the bottle, place each string
next to its partner on the left and knot them
approximately 3cm down.
5 Repeat the process, working to the left until you
reach the bottom of the bottle. Gather together the
strings underneath the bottle and tie in a knot in the
centre. Trim any excess twine. Add seed heads of
your choice, we’ve used ornamental carrot.
