Selling a unique opportunity to own a share of this
breed changing sire. Offering 5 shares, each with 5%
of U.S. semen rights and 200 units of semen – or take
them all and own 25% and 1000 units for 5 times the
bid price!
• Lee Leachman selected this outstanding, young, Australian sire to advance the
$Profit in his Red Angus program. ABS is marketing semen globally, but will
withhold semen from the North American market until the spring of 2014, at which
point the new owners will participate in the North American semen royalties.
• Iron Ore is a 100% outcross with no Red Angus lines in his pedigree. His
lineage includes such Angus greats as New Design 036, Future Direction, Focus
of ER, and Scotch Cap.
• Iron Ore’s sire, maternal grandsire, and maternal great grandsire are three of the
most highly used and proven Angus bulls in Australia. Te Mania Ada A149, the
sire, topped the Te Mania sale at $43,500 and is now a proven growth, carcass
weight, and muscle trait leader with 1678 progeny in 79 herds. Te Mania
Yorkshire Y437, the maternal grandsire, is one of the breeds most balanced bulls
with trait leading EPDs for calving ease, maternal calving ease, gestation length,
birth weight, growth, scrotal, days to calving, carcass weight, and marbling. The
third sire, Kenny’s Creek Sandy is in the RAAA database at
-0.4 BW, +47 WW, +87 YW, +1 ME, +10 HPG, +.56 Marb, and +.31 REA.
• The cow side of the pedigree features six consecutive generations of donor
females first in the Paringa herd and then in the Te Mania herd, Australia’s largest
and most progressive performance Angus program.
• “Phenotypically, Iron Ore is sound, quiet, and attractive. His first calves are
consistently small at birth and vigorous with style and presence.”
– Tom Lawson, breeder
Are Red Angus already behind?
• In the Simmental database, 85 of the top 100 All Purpose Index (API) Red
Angus & Angus bulls are black!
• In the Leachman database, 96 of the top 100 $Profit Red Angus & Angus
bulls are black!
• In the Red Angus Assoc. of America database, of the 79 proven and
opportunity bulls over 0.50 for both Marbling and Ribeye Area EPD’s – 75 are
black Angus bulls!
The beef industry is moving towards better value signals between packers,
feeders, and cow/calf producers. An age is approaching when commercial
ranchers will be paid based on DNA evaluations of the post weaning and carcass
potential of their calves. Now, more than ever, it is critical to make sure that our
Red Angus compete with the best bulls in the industry.
“To remain competitive, the Red Angus breed must find outcross genetics from superior
black Angus lines. We are already losing ground and cannot afford to fall further behind.”
— Lee Leachman
