KTM Cape Town
KTM has been in South Africa since the
1970’s with initially motorcycles being
imported via Johannesburg. KTM Cape Town
has been at their current location in Paarden
Eiland since 2008 where one can find them
in sight of the sea, just off Marine Drive. The
brand is heavily involved in the offroad scene
with their offerings in the motocross, enduro
and adventure bike disciplines. They are the
only KTM dealer in the Western Cape and
cover all areas in which a client may need
assistance – spares, tyres and mousses,
accessories, workshop facilities for services
and rebuilds, and new bikes for all disciplines.
KTM Cape Town is, proudly, the main
sponsor of CSMX, the main enduro club in
Cape Town, and supports every event with
mobile workshop and pits for their sponsored
riders. They are also involved at motocross
events at Zone 7, Cape Town’s premier MX
track, and have pits there for the day to assist
their riders with bike preps, refuelling and

Zone 7, Cape Town
Zone 7 was established outside Cape Town
on the N7 and has been run by Johann Spies
since 2009.When he took over the reins the
small, existing track had been destroyed,
the buildings looted, there was no water
and a lot was spent to get these things off
the ground again. The motocross track was
built first with a distance of 2km, while the
enduro track of 13 km was constructed later.
Zone 7 is classed with Motorsport South
Africa as the best facility in Africa and is of
such a level that the venue can host GP
Motocross events at world standards. The
motocross track is of international standard
and is MSA approved with a kid’s motocross
track, and 14km enduro loop. Zone 7 also
has secure lockup storage facilities available
for hire where people can store their bikes
on site and just come through to ride at the
track. Zone 7 also has a 4x4 trial course,
an RC oval track of national standard, a dirt
go kart oval of national standard, a clay oval
of national standard and with plans in the
pipeline for further development of a tarred
oval, a drag strip and a tarred go kart oval
for 2021. The big dirt oval will be completed
before the end of this year. There are also
plans to build chalet accommodation for
people to stay over with their families and
make it a riding weekend at the track. Zone 7
also has a fully equipped clothing, accessory
and tyre shop run by Dean Hoffman of Dean
Hoffman Racing, previously one of SA’s top
riders in the 80’s and 90’s, who also coaches
at the Zone and has been instrumental in
kick-starting the motocross careers of some
of SA’s National Champions. Summit Racing
has, in collaboration with Mario Reeh, put
in a full suspension workshop at the Zone
to assist all riders on race days, at events or
anytime if their setup needs tweaking. Find
