The good folks from
Honda South Africa called
us the other day:
Hey guys – this lockdown
has wreaked HAVOC with
tracks and riding facilities
all over SA. We saw that
you guys did a great
feature on ERORA, last
month, how about we do
a fairly regular feature on
the tracks around SA.
Good idea?
No it’s a GREAT Idea.
Without safe places to
ride, what would the
majority of South Africans
do with their bikes?
For this issue, we headed to the
famous Dirt Bronco track on
the outskirts of Krugersdorp to
meet up with Team Honda – and
to have a chat with the guys
who put in the hard yards to
keep the tracks open and up to
speed.
It’s a great facility. We have been
and covered several national
MX meets out there – and in the
old days we used it as a base
to host outrides through the
area. We expected the track to
be – well perhaps a bit run down
thanks to lockdown laws and all
that – but the opposite is true.
Eddie Wantenaar and his team
have spent the quiet season
upgrading and changing the
track – so that with the return
to normality, riders can expect
some differences. Eddie is very
proud of the secret mootie that
he puts into the soil to keep it
loamy…. We pressed him for
more detail, but he just smiles…

door for our water purification
plant. It really has made a huge
difference to us.”
