The Masaya Tour

Day 1 Arriving at Managua airport you

will be met and taken to San Jorge.

Alternatively you can enter Nicaragua

across the border from Costa Rica at

Peñas Blancas, transfer to San Jorge for

the ferry out onto Lake Nicaragua,

arriving at Ometepe Island with its two

impressive volcano peaks. Stay by the

beach for two nights. (B)

Day 2 Take a full day tour learning

about its ancient culture and exploring the

natural wonders of Ometepe. (B)

and enjoy their rich flora and fauna as well

as a visit to an impressive 17th century

Spanish fortress and Mombacho forest. (B)

Days 5-6 Travel on to the colonial city of

León, stopping at the Masaya handicraft

market for typical hand-made wares, such

as hammocks and ceramics. The next

morning visit the Cerro Negro volcano,

hike around the crater with our specialist

guide, enjoying the spectacular views.

Later we visit Juan Venado Island and

León’s historic centre. (B)

Day 1 Flight to San Carlos. Transfer by

boat to Solentiname Islands for 2 nights

Day 2 Explore the island and reserve

Day 3 Boat back San Carlos and boat to

El Castillo for 2 nights. Time to explore.

Day 4 Visit and trek on the Indio Maiz

Reserve. Visit El Castillo colonial fortress

Day 5 Return to San Carlos. Flight back

Days 3-4 Cross by boat to the mainland

and transfer to Granada, staying for two

nights, where Spanish colonial heritage is

evident in the local architecture around

every corner. Tour of the city on a horse

drawn carriage. The next day take a boat

trip to view the small islands on the lake

Days 7-8 Continue to Managua, see the

ruins of León Viejo, a UNESCO site and

stay for one night with a tour of the city.

On Day 8 transfer to the airport for your

onward flight. (B). Flights are not included.

Optional extension to Costa Rica, or

transfer to the beach at Morgan’s Rock.

Day 1 Arriving Panamá City airport our

guide will meet you, welcome you and

take you to the charming Casa Panama

Hotel, staying for 4 nights, in the City's

historic district. Afternoon tour of the city

visiting the historic Casco Viejo, a

UNESCO World Heritage site. (B)

Day 2 Today we take the Interoceanic

Train Journey to Colon across the forest

along the canal and visit the colonial town

of Portobelo. Return by road. (B,L)

PANAMÁ

Panamá Canal

4 night stopover

Panamá City - 4 nights

Visit the famous Panamá Canal and

observe the working of the locks with

ships crossing between the Pacific and

Atlantic oceans. We also visit the

museum at Miraflores lock with the

history of the canal. Visit the pristine

rainforest and lakes that store the water

for the locks and surround the canal.

Explore Panamá City and take in the

magnificent hilltop views of the bay, the

modern city and the historic area, Casco

Viejo, with its Spanish colonial churches,

cobbled streets, and leafy squares. Much

of the area has been renovated with bars,

restaurants, shops and boutique hotels.

Day 3 Today we enjoy a boat trip on the

Panamá Canal to take a close look at the

operation of Miraflores lock and visit the

museum of the canal’s contruction. The

boat will transit with big ships as they

progress through the locks. Partial transit

of two locks is available every Saturday

and the full crossing, Ocean to Ocean is

also possible - Dates on request. (B,L)

Days 4 Full day to explore the rainforest

at Soberania National Park. Walk nature

trails, pristine rainforest and discover the

great variety of birds in the forest. (B,L)

Days 5 Transfer to the airport for your

onward flight. (B)
