Cladding UpdatesBLOCKBUSTER FACADEA new, state-of-the-art entertainmentcomplex in South-East London, described asa landmark for the area, has become theepitome of a high street regeneration project,thanks in part to an eye-catching façade cladin bespoke perforated Proteus SC panels.Based in Eltham, the new Vue Cinemadevelopment is designed by architect ChapmanTaylor in collaboration with contractor WilmottDixon. The building forms a major part ofGreenwich Council’s ambitious plans totransform the high street into an entertainmentdestination for the community, with the aim ofincreasing footfall and business opportunities inthe area.Proteus Facades fabricated flat and pre-curvedProteus SC perforated panels, with a bespokepattern designed by Chapman Taylor in a lightgrey (RAL 9006) finish, for the upper levels. Thesmooth corners on the first floor, achievedthrough innovative use of the curved claddingoffers a subtle nod to the Art-Deco cinemas of the1930s; paying tribute to a time-honoured designwith modern materials and methods ofconstruction.Each panel, installed by Express Group Ltd, issupported by the Proteus aluminium carriersystem and ancillary components anchored to acantilever steel frame from the underlyingmasonry structure. These allowed the panels tobe hooked-on from behind, accentuating thesheer, smooth façade interrupted only by theperforated design.
