HONEYMOONDon’t feel like you have to leave for your honeymoontrip immediately following the wedding. Many coupleschoose to spend the day after their wedding with theirfriends and family who have travelled to witness theirmarriage. A simple brunch at the hotel where mostguests are staying or at a local restaurant is a great wayto visit with wedding guests you may not have beenable to spend time with at the reception. Some coupleseven choose to wait a couple of months before leavingon their honeymoon.When you sit down to plan, be sure to have an ideaof when you’d like to travel, how long you’d like tostay and an idea of the types of things you’d like to doon your trip. If you don’t have a specific destinationin mind, contacting a travel agent and sharing yourwishlist is a great way to get started. Travel agentstend to have extensive knowledge and experience withhoneymoon travel. They work directly with resorts andcruise companies which usually means you will get abetter deal and maybe even a few perks added in. Yourtravel agent will monitor your reservations as your tripapproaches and alert you of any changes. Traveling under your maiden namewill cut down on the stress of receivingthese documents on time.Once you get back from your amazing tripyou can apply for a name change on yourpassport. You will have to mail in your oldpassport, but it will be returned to youalong with your brand new passport withyour new last name. As long as you filethe name change form for your passport(called a 5504 form) within 12 months ofyour wedding, you will not have to pay anadditional fee for the change.8 9
