He said pupils used<br />
educational apps<br />
installed on the tabletsto<br />
supporttheir learningin<br />

delegation to see <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />
District councillors over<br />
parking and Christmas<br />
shoppingconcerns.<br />
Agroup met this week to<br />
unite over issues likecommon<br />
shoppinghours and how best to<br />
promote the CBD while it is<br />
transforming.<br />
They are hoping that<br />
contractorsworkingonthe<br />
beautification of the CBD might<br />
be willingtowork more nights<br />
and nonshopping hours,and<br />
on streets with fewer shops, in<br />
the traditionally busy leadup<br />
to Christmas.<br />
Theysay stopping the work<br />
willonly delay therevamp<br />
project,but they hope council<br />
will be sympathetic to some of<br />
their other requests, like free<br />
parking for customers in some<br />
areas.<br />
The business owners are also<br />
planning a‘‘shop <strong>Ashburton</strong>’’<br />
marketing campaign.The<br />
campaign willinclude social<br />
media promotions, with the<br />
possibility of giving away CBD<br />
experiences,like coffee or a<br />
meal.Proposed shoppinghours,<br />
with late nights and weekends,<br />
are being circulated for<br />
feedback.<br />
