The first task in the second phase of theproject was to come up with a few differentconcepts, or directions, that wewere interested in exploring.A) The aspect of our exhibit which Iwas drawn to most was the use of thirdparty tracking devices devices for patientmonitoring during trials. Our exhibit projecteda vision of a future world wheresensors integrated in everyday objects isthe norm. This notion is not too far detachedfrom our currently reality, as manyof us use ‘smart’ technological objects tomediate our everyday lives. Within ourexhibit we avoided any sort of predictionas to the type of technologies thatwill exist, but I was interested within thenext stage of the project to think aboutthis further.B) With use of these monitoring devicesbecoming more and more common,our exhibit also communicated the ideathat technology might afford a shift inthe landscape of cancer care, from thehospital to the home. With this in mind,changing clinical environments and shifttowards patient centred care was anotheraspect I was interested to explore.C) Finally I was keen to look further intothe role that lifestyle and environmentdata would have in tailoring and individualisingclincial research. This was somethingwe had discussed a lot in the leadup to creating our exhibit, but the aspectwe chose to focus on most. I was veryinterested to look further into this, as Ifelt that it was an interesting way to lookand and understand the role of industryin the delivery of precision medicine.41
