WELCOME TO

ORCHARD ROAD

Stretching from Tanglin Mall to the Istana,

Orchard Road is at the heart of Singapore’s retail

and entertainment scene. The 2.88-kilometre belt

is the destination of choice for shoppers, diners,

tourists, partygoers and anyone else who is drawn

to what our Great Street has to offer.

The dynamic precinct is home to malls, boutiques,

restaurants, cafes, hotels and art galleries featuring

a varied array of well-known names as well as

independent labels spread across more than

800,000 square metres of space. Throughout

the year, Orchard Road is a leisure and lifestyle

destination that showcases exciting concept

outlets, pop-up stores and street events to cater

to local and international visitors with diverse

backgrounds and preferences.

Orchard Road’s development mirrors the various

stages of Singapore’s economic transformation.

In 1903, Singapore’s first supermarket opened on

the land where The Centrepoint is situated, and

the 1950s saw the establishment of the Republic’s

first department store, C.K. Tang. Since then,

an evolving and dazzling array of retail outlets,

restaurants and lifestyle offerings have made

Orchard Road their home.

As the Place Manager of Orchard Road, ORBA is

always exploring new ways to transform the area,

keeping it lively and fresh for visitors from young

to old. So, come and join us on our Great Street,

where you will find an exciting and energetic

precinct to meet your shopping, entertainment

and dining desires.

While Orchard Road is now a modern, thriving hive

of activity, there are landmarks harking back to its

humble beginnings as a small road with nutmeg

plantations, pepper farms and fruit orchards in

the 19th century. The Chinese Baroque-style

terrace houses on Emerald Hill are a reminder of

the residential neighbourhood of the early 1900s,

while the names Scotts, Cairnhill and Cuppage

help preserve the memory of plantation owners

during the colonial times.
