Jeonbuk Life is a quarterly project of the Jeollabuk-do

Center for International Affairs (JBCIA) which is a

specialized public diplomacy agency established by the

Jeollabuk-do Provincial Government. Our goal is to spread

news to Jeollabuk-do’s international community, as well

as to carry news of Jeollabuk-do throughout Korea and

abroad. This magazine publishes once per season.

Newtro, fusion of the past and the future

It is clear to you that autumn is coming when

you see the green farmlands turn golden,

trees bear fruits one by one in orchards, and

mountains are changing their clothes. As it

may be common in all countries around the world,

the meaning of autumn is the season to harvest

crops that have been carefully cultivated for a year,

to celebrate it under the blue autumn sky with family

and friends, and also to prepare for the next year.

However, the fall of 2020 is different from last

year. Because of the chaos called the Corona virus

pandamic that came last winter and all we are

still in the middle of the war with it. How hard we

had last summer! The hot and humid air, and even

floods in each region of Korea. We haven't yet taken

off a mask on our faces in this mess. Even while I

am writing, news of extending the second stage of

social distance is coming out from TV.

With this theme, this magazine contains an

introduction of cafe where readers can get a kick out

of old Korean music and archives in Jeollabuk-do,

and readers can see an introduction of old sweet

desserts that have been famous for decades in

Jeollabuk-do. Plus, we’d like to relieve the boredom

of readers with nowhere to go recently by explaining

K-drama inspired by the past and the future.

We wanted to show the bright future of Jeollabuk-do

through promising young businessmen by posting

the stories of them who are constantly focusing on

their work despite the economic difficulties caused

by the Corona virus.

Finally, it contains an unofficial but witty guide book

for hikers in Jeollabuk-do so that you can have a

blast. So if you’re very enthusiastic about hiking,

please keep in mind this information.

Nevertheless, to change the mood, with the idea

that we should move forward with memories of the

past, we try to go up to our readers with the theme

of Newtro. The word "Newtro" is a newly coined

word combining "New" and "Retro", which means the

tendency of enjoying retros refreshingly. In other

words, it's from the past, but it means something

new for those who enjoy it. It is also related to the

saying that trends come full circle.

In a fast-paced modern society, and to make matters

worse because of Corona virus, we understand that

there are many readers who are struggling. This

time, we hope that the fall issue of JB LIFE! will be

a shelter for them to look back on the past and think

about the future.

Contrasted with the traditional

markets and shops on the

main floor of the Nambu

Market, the second level,

named Youth Mall, is home to young

and creative entrepreneurs interested

in developing their businesses. Rent is

offered at a cheaper rate, which gives

the owners a chance to focus on other

parts of their craft and worry less about

money. It’s a tight-knit community

with a mix of shops that have stayed

to withstand many changes over the

years with newer ones looking to break

into the scene. These are some of my

favourites.

Bar Cold Dawn is a cocktail bar by

definition, but they offer a unique

experience for guests making it different

from any other drinking spot. Instead of

providing you a menu with pre-existing

choices, the bartenders will console

you on the tastes you are craving, what

mood you are in, and what flavors you

typically enjoy. Then, they will craft you

a drink that is unique to you. They are no

strangers to the Youth mall, having been

there for more than nine years. They are

one of the longest lasting businesses

there and plan to keep it that way.

One of the more authentic American

Brunch places in Jeonju with ingredients

and dishes all made in-house by the

owner. It imitates the feeling of a diner

with a cozy and casual atmosphere,

vintage goods, and a combination

of small booths and tables. Most

importantly, the menu serves all the

classics; fresh coffee, bacon, sausage,

pancakes, potatoes, and jams. They too

have been around for more than 3 years

and are a big part of the community at

the mall.

A ethereal shop that sells beautiful

hand-made candles and houseware

items that are designed and created

right in the back of the store. The owner

carefully curates each product from the

design to the packaging, making it an

extremely popular choice for unique

gifted goods. Her store has been there

for over five years, and while she has

faced difficulties in seeing how else the

business can expand, she has a lot of

gratitude for her returning customers.

This unique community of shop-owners

are looking to successfully operate their

businesses, all facing similar barriers of

growing their businesses. One thing

we could do as individuals living in

Jeollabuk-do province is to go and

support and shop from these places

남부 시장 본 층의 전통 시장이나 사업장들과는 다르게 2층에 위치한

청년몰은 젊고 창의적인 사업가들이 둥지를 틀고 있다. 새롭게 들어오는

사업들과 떠나간 사업들로 인한 변화들이 계속되는 가운데 모든 폭풍을

견뎌내고 남아있는 곳들이 있다. 필자가 가장 좋아하는 곳들은 다음과 같다.

오래된 곳 중 하나이며, 앞으로도 당분간 이곳을 떠날 계획은 없다고 한다.

提供与众不同的体验。不是提供菜单上的饮料 , 调

酒师挑选按照客人想要什么口味和现在心情怎么

样 , 而且平时喜欢什么味道等 , 安慰客人心情并为

客人创造独特的饮料。‘ 酒吧寒冷的黎明 ’ 进入青年

购物中心以来已有 9 年 , 是其中老地方之一 , 据说

目前暂时没有离开这个地方的计划。

一家沙拉店拉板 , 进入了

健康行业

“이너프 샐러드 (Enough Salad)”의 대표, 셰프 겸 주인은 지난

6개월 동안 자신의 작은 사업에 일어난 빠른 변화들과 예상했던

것보다도 더 일찍 이루어진 자신의 꿈에 대해서 뒤돌아보았다.

학생이자 젊은 여성, 그리고 이제는 사업주로서 수정 씨에게

인생의 변화란 낯선 것이 아니다. 하지만 모든 변화가 좋았던

것은 아니며, 학생 때 겪었던 부정적인 스트레스야말로 수정 씨가

건강한 식습관에 대해 배우도록 영감을 준 주요 요인이었다.

처음 수정 씨를 만난 것은 가게의 초창기 때였다. 이때 가게는

전북대에서 인적이 드문 뒷쪽에 있었으며 그곳의 작은 공간에서

영업을 하고 있었다. 그때 이후로 우리는 가끔 가볍게 인사를 주고

받아왔고, 대학가 중심의 새롭고 훨씬 큰 장소로 가게를 옮겨

가면서 수정 씨는 한담을 나눌 시간조차 없을 정도로 바빠졌다.

바로 이번 주, 우리는 이 빠른 성장에 대해 허심탄회한 이야기를 나눌

수 있었고, 수정 씨는 이 모든 과정을 어떻게 헤쳐나가고 있는지

아주 자세한 이야기를 들려주었다. 그녀의 목표는 더욱 뚜렷해져

있었으며 웰니스 산업에 쏟아지는 관심에 기뻐하고 있었다. 또한

사업이 얼마나 성장했는지 믿기 어려울 정도라고 했다.

“ 沙拉足够 ” 的代表 , 厨师兼老板回顾了 , 最近 6 个月 , 对自己的

小生意发生的快速变化而自己的梦想比预期更早实现。她是

个学生、年轻女性而且现在是以业主 , 对于秀贞来说人生的变

化不那么陌生的事情。不过并不是所有的改变都是好的 , 她在

学生时期经历过的负面压力是反而给了让秀贞学习对健康饮

食习惯的主要灵感。

我第一次见到秀贞是那个店的创业初期。当时那个店在全北大

学人迹少的背面 , 那很小地方做生意。那时后我们偶尔互相打

招呼 , 搬家到大学街中心的新的更大的地方后 , 秀贞变得很忙 ,

甚至跟秀贞没有聊天时间。

就在本周 , 我们能坦白的说话对于这种快速增长 , 秀贞给我讲

述了详细的内容 , 她正在如何通过这所有的过程。她的目标更

明显 , 她对健康行业的关注很高兴。还有她说很难相信她的生

意的发展。

her journey as an entrepreneur and restaurant owner

Entrepreneur, chef, and owner of “Enough

Salad” reflects on the changes her small

business has gone through in just 6

months and how her dreams are here

faster than she ever expected. As a recent graduate

student, young woman, and now business owner,

Su Jeong is no stranger to changes in her life. It

was when she was in school that she noticed her

stress was causing her overall health to decline

and decided to get a nutritionist to teach her ways

to take care of her body and mind. Inspired by her

own journey, her mission is to bring accessible

healthy food options to the younger population of

Korea. She hopes that students can learn how to

take care of themselves and avoid burnout.

I first met her back in January, which was during

the time of the initial stages of her store. At this

point, it was operating from a tiny space that was

nestled in the back area of a quieter part of Bukdae.

Fast forward to today, she has now moved into a

brand new, much larger space in the heart of the

student area. We have managed to sneak in a few

pleasantries here and there, but she has already

seen such an increase in customers, that there is

not a lot of time for small talk.

Inspired by her

own journey, her

mission is to bring

accessible healthy

food options

to the younger

population of Korea

This week, Su Jeong and I did manage to have a

candid conversation about all of the quick changes

and she went into great detail about how she is

navigating everything seemingly happening all

at once. With the updated restaurant, it is clear

that she is more determined than ever to generate

interest in the wellness industry and continue to

expand her business.


What does the idea of

change mean for you?

Interview

For me, the meaning of change is that

my store has become more important

for myself. When I first opened the store

last year, I was constantly learning new

things and focusing on adapting, so I

didn't think much about the meaning

of the store. To be honest, it was a small

store that started with curiosity in the

field of wellness. The investment was

also very small. As time went by, I felt

myself growing as a business person as

I dealt with problems and relationships

in the store, and I think that’s when

curiosity turned into passion. The salad

store is now at the center of my career.

I am ready to take on new challenges

and would like to expand my business in

connection to fitness. My store and salad

business are important things that are

a part of my core identity and ideology.

How do you feel about the

growth of your business?

I worry about the amount of responsibility

I have to take on as the store grows.

Since we keep expanding, the sales

are increasing, and I have to hire more

employees to keep up with demand. When

the store was small, I only had to take

responsibility for two or three employees,

but now I feel more pressure because I

am responsible for almost ten employees.

I want to maintain positive relationships

with everyone, but I also have to focus

on the business side of things. Even for

customers, I worry whether our existing

ones will have a satisfying experience

when they come to the new store. Since

we are so busy, our interactions are less

personal and it’s harder to maintain

the initial relationships. I try my best at

approaching each day with gratitude and

I owe it to our customers and employees

for helping us get this far. I am happy that

people were more interested in health

care than I thought.

Is it hard to have a business

as a young woman in Korea?

As a young woman, I haven't had

much trouble running a business, but

I think it was the hardest thing to

start a store without having enough

money to prepare for it. Lack of social

experience and knowledge of real

estate, management, and taxes were

also a little hard. Come to think of it,

I think management was the cause of

difficulties as a young woman.

Korean War. It’s a turbulent yet captivating era that

adds to the conflicts and growth of the characters.

help him get his groove back. It’s a journey that spans

many years and one that will give viewers a peek into

Despite their love for spicy food, Koreans seemed to have always had a sweet

tooth since the Goryeo dynasty. Yeot (엿) is a taffy is boiled with malt and other

ingredients such as steamed rice, grains, glutinous rice, oil, water, corn, and sweet

potatoes. Before when there was no sugar, the soft yeot is used as a sweetened

condiment. Years later, the hardened taffy became a well-known sweet snack.

[형분여님] 엿, 그때와 지금

엿의 재료는 밥, 찹쌀, 조, 수수, 옥수수, 기름, 물, 고구마가

들어간다. 엿은 강엿의 양쪽 끝을 잡고 잡아당기면서 가늘고

긴 엿으로 만드는데, 시간과 노력이 많이 든다. 엿의 끈적이는

속성 때문에 엿을 먹으면 공부한 내용이 머리에 붙어 기억이

오래간다고 믿었다. 요즘에는 시험에 잘 붙으라고 엿을

선물한다. 임실의 작은 마을 오수에서는 마을 어르신들이 대를

이어 직접 엿을 만들어오고 있다. 임실에서 생산한 쌀과 맥아를

사용해서 엿을 만들어 지역 특산품이 되어있다.

THE HISTORY OF YEOT

In ancient Korea, it was a custom during the Joseon

Dynasty to send yeot to children or husbands who

studied to become scholars, as it was believed the

stickiness of the taffy symbolized that the lessons will

“stick to their memory.” Nowadays, some people still

believe that if you eat yeot, you will do well in an exam.

It was also an important ritual food, such as in

a wedding ceremony, a wedding banquet, or a

banquet in the royal court. It is a sign of goodwill

and the hope that you will do well in the future.

THE ART OF MAKING YEOT

In modern times, yeot has

become associated with

the Korean curse "eat yeot,"

which is an inappropriate

expression and has a vulgar

meaning in English. But

despite the wrong evolution

of the term, it cannot be

denied that yeot is a treasure

of Korea, a product of

generations of craftsmanship

and tradition.

It is made by pulling the batter concoction from

each end, a process that takes long hours and

dedication. This is because the pulling creates

texture and taste of the candy, while the “air holes”

determine the crunchy texture.

Osu, a small town in Imsil, specializes in

manufacturing of yeot, with senior citizens hand

making these snacks for generations. They make

yeot using domestically produced Imsil rice and

cultivated malt. Jeontong (전통), a brand from Osu

meaning "old-fashioned" or "traditional", is a wellestablished

yeot maker with years of experience.

The old couple that runs it still takes part in the

creation process. They make yeot in different

flavors: ginger, rice, mugwort, and honey.

If you walk around Hanok Village, the most popular

tourist spot in Jeonju, you’ll probably notice one thing

aside from people wearing hanbok: a bright orange and

brown paper bag emblazoned with the PNB logo. A trip

to the traditional city will not be complete without bringing

home this must-buy souvenir consisting of different flavors of

choco pie. The stores are also very accessible since there’s a

PNB bakery in every corner. But what many people don’t know

is the brand’s secret to longevity and how, after so many years,

it still maintains its title of being the best dessert in Jeonju.

HISTORY OF PNB

PNB (also known as Pungnyeon Jegwa / 풍년제과) first opened

in 1951 in Jungang-dong, Jeonju. It is famous for selling choco

pie, a sweet snack with two small round layers of chocolate

cake with marshmallow filling. It’s not exactly a “pie” but the

term has become a constant in South Korea and in Jeonju, it

has become synonymous with PNB.

Despite the changing of the times, the well-known

taste of the choco pies remained and passed down to

the founding families of PNB for three generations.

PNB didn’t actually begin by selling choco pies. The company's

story began with a sweet rice cracker seller, Jeon Byung-i, who

would walk around Jeollabuk-do to sell his goods. After the

liberation of Korea from Japan, his family member Kang Jeongmoon

opened a bakery in Jeonju, this time making a variety of

handcrafted baked goods. Soon after, the bakery made a welcome

addition which would then become the brand’s signature: the

choco pies. Now, these choco pies come in different flavors such

as strawberry, green tea, cheese, and vanilla.

Although PNB is based in Jeonju, it also has branches at

Hyundai Department Stores in Seoul, where freshly baked

goods are delivered each day. PNB can also be found at

Hyundai’s Mok-dong, Apgujeong, and Coex.

Choco pie brands are all over Korean supermarkets, but one

thing’s for sure, the choco pies won’t taste as good if it didn’t

come from the orange bag.

虽然小 , 但在全州拥有悠久历史的丰年糕点巧克

力派

1951년 전주시 중앙동에 처음으로 문을 연

풍년제과는 초코파이로 유명하지만, 풍부하고

오래된 역사를 아는 사람이 많지는 않다. 풍년제과는

전라북도를 돌아다니며 쌀 과자를 팔러 다니던 ‘

전병이’라는 상인으로부터 시작되었다. 해방 후,

그의 가족인 강정문이 전주에 빵집을 열었고 다양한

수제 과자와 빵을 만들어 팔았고, 얼마 안 되어

가게의 대표상품이 된 초코파이를 팔기 시작했다.

풍년제과가 전주에 본점을 두고 있기는 하지만 서울

현대백화점에도 입점해있어, 매일 갓 구운 제과를

구입할 수 있다. 풍년제과는 현대백화점 목동점,

압구정점과 코엑스점 등에 있다.

巧克力派闻名 , 但了解丰富而悠久历史的人并不

多。丰年糕点是全罗北道的一位走街串巷卖大米

饼干的名为 " 煎餅 " 的商人开始的。解放后 , 他的家

人姜正文在全州开了一家面包店 , 制作并销售多

种手工饼干和面包 , 不久便开始销售成为店铺代

表商品的巧克力派。丰年糕点虽在全州

设有总店 , 但已入驻首尔现代百货

店 , 每天都能买到刚烤制的糕

点。丰年糕点在现代百货店木

洞店、狎鸥亭店和 coex 店等。

这家咖啡屋保存着可以欣赏到音乐黄金期的古老档案。

LP카페소리는 비닐 레코드가 있는 도서관으로 50년대 초기의

음악부터 들을 수 있는 독특한 곳이다. 낮에는 커피, 건강 수제

허브차(대추차, 쌍화차)를, 밤에는 위스키나 맥주 같은 술을

제공하는 바(bar)로 변신한다.

LP 咖啡屋 'sori‘ 是带塑料唱片的图书馆。可以欣赏到 50 年代初

期开始的音乐 , 是一个很独特的地方。这里白天喝咖啡、喝健康

手工香草茶 ( 大枣茶、双花茶 ), 晚上变身为酒吧 (bar) 喝威士忌

或啤酒等。

과거의 음악을 알 수 있게 해주는 카페에서 사랑하는 사람들과

추억을 나누면 좋을 것이다. 친근한 카페 주인은 항상 유쾌하게

대화를 나누며 손님이 좋아하는 노래 신청을 기꺼이 들어준다.

When I entered the sliding door of LP

카페소리 (or literally LP Cafe Sound),

I felt like I stepped into the past. The

first song that greeted my ears was

“You Changed My Life in a Moment,” originally sung by

Janie Fricke and released in 1978. A few more minutes

in, songs from the Carpenters blasted from the vintage

speakers, followed by famous tunes by Jimi Hendrix and

The Supremes. I ordered an iced latte, which, by any

standards wasn’t really something out of the ordinary,

but it’s the experience that made it quite different.

recognition of these old songs is

an indication of my age—or a vivid

recollection of lazy, languid Sunday

mornings in my childhood when my

dad would play music from the 60’s

to 70’s while he cleaned his car.

But whatever it is, this cafe brought back nostalgic

memories when music felt and sounded so raw as it

conveyed genuine emotions and aimed to touch deep

into the hearts of listeners.

A PLACE FOR MUSIC LOVERS

Lined up and decorated around the cafe are vinyl

records, with their glaring, big, shiny black discs. The

subtle lighting, open windows where guests can look

outside, and moody atmosphere captured the spirit of

the old times.

By the bar is a library of LP records, or “long play,”—and

for Gen Z youngsters who might not be not familiar

with it—these are 12-inch, analog storage mediums

that were first produced in the 1940’s. Earlier forms

of vinyl existed as early as the 1800’s.

As a 90’s millennial kid, seeing and hearing vinyl

records is a refreshing experience especially here in

Korea, where most K-pop music heard everywhere

is made with fancy digital manipulations. It makes

even more sense that this LP cafe is found in Jeonju,

a city that has kept the traditional elements and

remnants of Korea’s rich history while coexisting

with the modern times.

By day, this place serves coffee, healthy handmade

herbal tea (Daechu tea, Ssanghwa tea), and by night,

it converts into a lounge bar that serves alcoholic

beverages like whiskey, beer, and other spirits.

The friendly cafe owner is always happy to engage

in conversations and will happily oblige your

favorite song requests. It’s a fascinating place

where you can feel the warm sunshine, warm

coffee, and soft music. Most importantly, it’s a place

your parents will definitely approve.

Anew bird café near Jeonju’s Eco-City

is sure to be a favorite for animal

lovers and children alike. Located

just across the highway from

Eco-City, beside the Halla Vivaldi apartments in

Songcheon-dong, Bird Sori Café features a large,

open space filled with parrots and parakeets of

all shapes and sizes. For a small entry fee, visitors

are given their own bird carrier with two or three

parakeets. Café-style drinks and additional bird

feed including nuts and seeds can be purchased

separately, and all the birds in the café can be fed

by hand. Placing a finger under a parakeet’s breast

on your bird carrier and pushing slightly toward

the bird will cause it to step up onto your finger

and allow you to carry it around or feed it

with seeds cupped in your other hand.

앵무새 카페버드소리

전주 에코시티인근에 있는 앵무새카페 동물애호가와 아이들

모두에게 더 없이 좋은 공간이다. 에코시티 건너편, 송천동

한라비발디 아파트 앞쪽으로 위치한 새카페 버드소리는 넓은

공간에 다양한 모양과 크기의 앵무새가 가득하다. 입장료를 내면

2~3마리의 앵무새를 테이블로 가져다준다. 음료와 견과류와 씨로

된 새모이를 추가로 구입할 수 있다. 모든 새가 방문자 손바닥위의

모이를 먹을 수 있게 되어있다. 앵무새의 가슴 밑에 손가락을 대고

새를 살짝 밀면 앵무새가 위로 올라서게 되는데, 새를

올려놓은 채 다른 손으로 먹이를 주거나

카페를 한바퀴 걸어볼 수도 있다.

Perhaps you’re aware of the various

animal cafés that are sprinkled

throughout Korea’s cityscapes. These

animal cafés provide a safe retreat for

pet owners and pet lovers alike to get

out of the weather and enjoy a café-style

drink and the company of other like-minded

people and animals. They are also a great way to

get kids out of the house and let them interact

with and enjoy various types and breeds of animals

that they wouldn’t otherwise get to living in a

small apartment. My daughter, for one, is constantly

asking for a dog (or cat, bunny, turtle, fish, bug,

horse, or nearly any other four-legged, winged, or

finned creature). We recently noticed a “Parrot Café”

opened up near our house and decided to take her

to experience it with some of her friends.

样大小的鹦鹉。只要支付入场费 , 就能把 2~3 只鹦鹉拿到桌子

上。还可以添置饮料、坚果和籽类饲料。咖啡屋里所有的鸟都可

以吃到访问者手掌上的食饵。将手指放在鹦鹉的胸前 , 轻轻推

一下 , 鹦鹉就会站到手指上 , 你就可以把鸟放在手指上 , 用另一

只手喂食 , 也可以在咖啡厅走一圈。

THE BRAND

Bird Sori Café in Jeonju opened in SongCheon-Dong in

2019 and is the only "Bird Sori Café" in Jeollabuk-do (there

are 20 other franchises in Korea, however). The first thing

that catches your eye is the the modern, colorful branding

that leads you in. The logo is a cursive script combination

of the letters B and S (“bird sori”) that clearly depicts a

perched parrot. Café signs are covered with tropical flowers

and bright colors that easily bring to mind its inhabitants.

And once inside, you’re quickly

greeted with the cheerful

The café itself is large and spacious, well-cared for and

clean, with great big windows looking out over the Korean

countryside. Artificial vegetation decorates the ceiling and

walls around the main space where larger birds perch on

trees or metal racks. Each of these is surrounded

by small boxes on the floor containing newspaper

to catch falling fragments of seeds from the birds.

Birds, bird food, and bird accessories are also

available to buy, most of which are stored behind

the leafy wall near the entrance.

THE BIRDS

The "big birds" in the center of the room are the most

colorful and are particularly fun to feed. There’s even

a large red Macaw in the center. They don't fly around,

but because they aren’t tied to their perches, they move

around freely - sometimes even upside-down - as patrons

come up to feed them. Some of the parrots did get

a little aggressive with each other, however,

especially around sunflower seeds, which

seem to be their favorite.

The smaller birds at our table seemed

well-cared for and happy, although I

can’t help but wonder how stressed they

must get as 5 and 6-year olds continually

pick them up and chase them around. But

if you've got young ones and need to get

them out of the house for a couple of hours,

the Bird Sori Café is a great way to keep them

entertained for the afternoon. Just beware of little

junior requesting to take one home and keep it.

At any time of the year, anyone who desires can make a trip to

the city of Buan, South Korea, to see its gorgeous waterfalls,

wonderful hiking trails, and naturally formed tidal flats by the

coast. Buan has a plethora of fun activities, restaurants, scenic

beaches to view or relax on, and mountains to hike. One of the most wellknown

hikes, for good reason, is located within one of the National Geoparks

in Korea, called the Jeonju West Coast National Geopark Jikso Falls.

부안 ‘직소 폭포’와 ‘갯벌’

扶安 ' 直沼瀑布 ' 和 ' 泥滩 '

부안은 트래킹, 폭포, 해변, 자연적으로 형성된

갯벌과 같은 볼거리와 액티비티가 많은 한국의

화려하고 다채로운 지역이다. 추천할만한

아름다운 폭포로 부안의 직소폭포가 있다.

扶安有瀑布、海边、自然形成的泥滩等众多景

点。扶安还是徒步旅行的名所 , 是韩国一个华

丽多彩的小城市。其中值得推荐的瀑布有扶

安的直沼瀑布。

우리나라 국립 지질 공원 중 하나로 전북 서해안

국립 지질공원 직소폭포라고 불리 운다. 이곳은

연중 어느 때나 가볼 수 있고 어느 계절이나

아름답다. 특히 가을에는 나뭇잎이 숨 멎을 듯한

붉은 핏빛 색조를 띄며 반짝인다.

또한 바닷가를 따라 까만 돌들이 평평하게

박혀있는 갯벌을 꼭 방문하길 권한다.

이곳은 한국어로 채석강이라 하고 격포 해변에

있다. 밀물일 때는 평평한 부분이 숨겨져

있지만, 낮에 썰물일 때는 서로 다른 층으로 된

미끄러운 바위에 서서 발 주위 물 웅덩이속의

바다 생물도 볼 수 있다.

韩国全罗北道扶安郡边山面的边山半岛国立

公园是韩国国立地质公园之一 , 直沼瀑布就

位于此公园中 , 所以被称为全北西海岸国立

地质公园的直沼瀑布。这里随时都可以去 , 任

何季节都非常美丽。尤其是在秋天 , 树叶发出

令人窒息的红色色调。

另外 , 建议大家一定要沿着海边走访镶嵌着

黑色石头的泥滩 , 享受寂静且平和的泥滩。

这里叫做彩石江 , 位于格浦海边。涨潮时 , 这

里隐藏着平整的部分 , 但白天退潮时 , 站在

不同层次的滑石上 , 还可以看到脚边水坑中

的海洋生物。

Jikso Falls

In this national park, you can see the famed Jikso

Falls. What’s wonderful about this waterfall, and

the many hiking trails surrounding it, is its yearround

accessibility and stunning landscape for

every season. Each season represents a unique

and beautiful view of the falls and surrounding

mountain range. During fall, Jikso Falls comes alive

with breathtaking blood-red leaves, shining even

brighter as the sun’s rays penetrate their leafy

membranes. Orange, yellow, and red welcome and

guide you along the path to the falls and beyond,

in the colorful season of autumn.

Spring beckons you with tantalizing displays of

flowers of every color, summer swallows you in

every shade and hue of green, and winter stuns

you with sparkling snow and barren tree branches

shooting toward the sky. Having been to this

particular waterfall in fall and late winter-early

spring, I can give you a glimpse of seeing the falls

during these times, and what lies along the way.

There are many different trails you can take, with

some leading you to different summit points, others

leading you to clear water ponds, rivers, temples,

and of course, Jikso Falls. Along the trail to the falls,

there is a great lookout point where you can drink

in the wonderful view of a large reservoir with

mountains towering over it on every side. The water

sparkles magically as the sun hits its surface, while

people stop to take pictures. Once the falls come

into view, you can take a moment to take a far-off

picture. As you come closer, people teem around

the base of the falls, many taking their chance to

hop on stones and stand in the foreground to get

a great shot with the falls tumbling behind. People

of all ages can enjoy this hike to the falls, as it

requires little energy.


Buan

TIDAL FLATS

Another great area to visit in Buan are the popular

tidal flats, Chaeseokgang in Korean. It is located

in Gyeokpo (격포) beach . These naturally formed

caves, chiseled rock faces, and the small tidal pools

dotting the rocks underfoot are a popular place for

people to come take a gander. The sleek surfaces

and interesting formations underfoot are a prime

destination for some small life to be teeming

within the small pools held there. People walk very

cautiously around these very slippery flats, made

out of black rock, pounded flat and smooth by the

waves. At high tide, these flats cannot be seen

or accessed, but during the low tide at different

intervals within the day, people take the chance to

wander along the rocks. It’s a perfect destination

for a picture of the vast ocean beyond, just a step

away.

Dotted along the coast line of this little town are

various unique cafes, pensions, hotels, restaurants

and outdoor food vendors. The beach itself is quite

small, so it’s only good for a view and a walk on the

tidal flats. Other Buan beaches offer great picnic

spots and chances to swim and frolic in the water.

Be sure to put this national park and the tidal flats

on your summer adventure list for this season, and

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

a sparkling brilliance of life

when covered with a fresh

powder of pure, white snow.

Jeollabuk-do is filled with such

spaces. Its mountains contain

well-worn trails that attract

outdoor enthusiasts from all

over the country. If you’ve

lived in Korea for some time,

you’ve likely heard of some

of them: Jirisan (Namwon),

Deokyusan (Muju), Moaksan

(Jeonju), Maisan (Jinan),

Naejangsan (Jeongeup).

But the best, less famous

mountain in Jeollabuk-do

has to be Sunchang’s

Gangcheonsan. It is filled

with all the best features of

Korea’s mountains through

all seasons and more. And

the first time I ever visited, I

saw something I’d never seen

before in a mountain in Korea:

a dozen artists with paints

and canvases out, painting

sweeping panoramas.

I’ve always loved getting

outside, but especially so

after moving to Korea. I come

from a high desert area in the

Rocky Mountains in the US where the

tallest natural tree is a pale green

sagebush. There are, of course, some

beautiful parks and golf courses with

real shade trees in town, but nothing

so rich and natural as the forests that

make up the blanket of mountain

coverings in Korea.

In spring, Korea’s mountains are

mottled with pink, yellow, and

white blossoms as chartreuse green

buds begin sprouting again. In the

summer, mountain forests provide

a cooling respite from the moist

heat and blistering sun, and many

trails run along valleys where clear,

flowing water cascades into deep

blue pools you can see the bottoms

of. In the fall, Korea’s mountains are

set ablaze with a fire of brilliant red,

orange, and yellow leaves; the air is

crisp and dry, and winter approaches.

And even in the winter, the dead,

brown forests reflect a sparkling

brilliance of life when covered with

a fresh powder of pure, white snow.

Jeollabuk-do is filled with such

spaces. Its mountains contain wellworn

If you’ve lived in Korea for some time,

less famous mountain in Jeollabuk-do

has to be Sunchang’s Gangcheonsan.

seasons and more. And the first time I

ever visited, I saw something I’d never

seen before in a mountain in Korea: a

THE FIRST COUNTY PARK

Gangcheonsan was designated as

Korea’s first county park on January 7,

1981. Jeollabuk-do contains four famous

national parks and four provincial parks,

but only two county parks, including

Jangansan and Gangcheonsan, which

are not nearly as widely known.

Nevertheless, Gangcheonsan is arguably

one of the most beautiful mountain

parks in Jeollabuk-do year round.

In fact, the entire trail in to the picnic

area is designated as a "barefoot path"

with two options at every stream

crossing: either take the bridge across,

or wade through the shallow water

along the cobblestone path below.

Between Gangcheonsa Temple and

the open picnic area, there is a large

clearing with a 75m long cloud bridge

suspended 50m overhead.

According to KoreaSanha.net which has

a ranking of Korea’s top 300 mountains,

Gangcheonsan ranks 21st in popularity,

coming in 10th place during the fall,

just two places behind Naejangsan’s

8th place autumn ranking. But, unlike

Naejangsan, which sees its popularity and

tourism peak in autumn, Gangcheonsan

is a beloved destination for all seasons,

ranking in the top 50 mountains year

round. In fact, due to its year-round

popularity, Gangcheonsan actually beats

Naejangsan overall, which ranks 36th.

Perhaps the reason for Gangcheonsan’s

popularity in all seasons can be attributed

to its outstanding natural environment.

Lush natural forests, high rock walls,

clear flowing streams, and the sound

of rushing water resonates in the valley

and creates a landscape that is as

exhilarating as it is refreshing.

EXPLORING THE TRAIL

The trail begins as most mountain

trails in Korea begin, with a wide, welltraveled,

and well cared for path, with

easy accessibility for strollers and

wheelchairs. But unlike most other

mountain paths in Korea, this one

continues to be smooth and almost

flat for nearly 4km - beyond the famous

Gangcheonsa Temple, and into a large,

open picinic area with views of a

massive rock wall with at least three

more picturesque waterfalls.

For more serious hikers, there are wilder,

rockier, mountain paths that wrap along

the ridgelines of both the north and

south mountains that surround the

valley (the highest peaks on both the

north and south sides average 580m).

But for a less demanding hike back

along the same route that you came in

on, there is also a mountain boardwalk

that follows the main trail. The first

time I went to Gangcheonsan, I took

the barefoot mountain path in to the

picnic area, and returned along the

mountainous boardwalk that branches

off from there and climbs up into the

trees, some 50-100m above the main

path.

All in all, Gangcheonsan certainly has

something for everyone, and something

for all seasons. Although Naejangsan

may be more popular in the fall, it’s no

wonder that Gangcheonsan is actually

more popular year round. From rainbow

misting waterfalls, to stone and sky

bridges overlooking Korea’s lush natural

forests and crystal clear streams, to

hidden gems like little known waterfalls,

rocky enclosures and caves, and a

mountain boardwalk, Gangcheonsan

has to be my favorite mountain that

I’ve discovered in recent years. It’s well

worth at least a day trip, since the drive

from Jeonju is just over an hour. But

with numerous pensions surrounding

the mountain as well, it may just be the

perfect place for an extended getaway.

country, with over 70% of the

land area covered with rolling

hills and towering peaks. The

Taebaek Mountain Range, stretching 500

kilometers from Hwangnyong Mountain in

North Korea down to the southern city of

Busan, rises steeply from the east coast of

Korea and forms the entire eastern edge of

the peninsula. Moving west, the mountain

range tapers off to gentler slopes as the

land gradually gives way to great plains

on the far west coast. North Jeolla province

follows the same pattern: high mountains

rise in the east and roll out to gentler hills

and flat plains in the west.

mountains introduces fourteen of the

province’s most representative peaks, one

from each district. Many of Jeollabuk-do’s

mountains are well-known throughout

Korea, and as fall approaches, will become

the destination for numerous backpackers

and hikers keen to view the changing of

seasons in the maple tree leaves. Therefore,

it is worthwhile to get to know Jeollabuk-

do’s most famous mountains to help

you also plan your own fall leaf viewing

1 JIRI MOUNTAIN is located in the heart of

Jirisan National Park, which was the first and

largest national park designated in South Korea

in 1967. Jirisan rises above the clouds to 1915m

and is the second tallest mountain in Korea after

Halla Mountain on Jeju Island. It also enjoys

the second largest amount of biodiversity,

after Hallasan, with 1,500 different species of

plants growing on its peaks, many of which are

endemic, or limited only to that region.

Jiri Mountain includes a shrine to the three

mythical founders of Korea. At Samseonggung,

(the "Three Sages Palace") visitors can pay

homage to Hwanin, Hwanung, and Dangun

(the father-son-grandson trio) who founded

the country. There are additionally seven

major Buddhist temples resting within

its bounds, the most famous of which is

Hwaeomsa which contains several national

treasures that are mostly stone artworks

from 600-900 CE.

Summer and fall are the most popular

months for visiting Jirisan, both for its

beautiful valleys and cascading streams,

as well as for its vivid fall foliage.

Jirisan's “10 Scenic Views” are the most

popular destinations. There are also

several hiking courses, including a

43km trek that takes nearly 20 hours

(3-4 days) along the full ridge of the

mountain.

2 DEOGYU MOUNTAIN is probably best known for its

ski resort which contains the highest vertical drop of Korea's

commercial resorts, and the longest ski run in Korea (the

Silk Road run is 6km long). Its magnificent ridge of about

1,300m extends 30km southwest, and the famous Gucheondong

Valley is filled with waterfalls, rocky cliffs, and cascading

rapids to form the "Gucheon-dong 33 Scenic Views." The

mountain stream originating in the mountain flows to Muju

in the north, and then into Namdae Stream, a tributary of the

Geum River. Deogyusan in winter is reminiscent of the peaks

of the Himalayas, the heavy snow sprinkled about the trails

making it the #1 choice for winter hiking. And don't forget

the easiest way to the top in winter: the ski lift.

3 NAEJANG MOUNTAIN is exceptionally beautiful

throughout the year, but it is particularly known for its

spectacular autumn leaves which turn relatively redder than

those of other mountains. Some of the maple trees on the

mountain are so old that they stand up to 20m tall, and have

a circumference of up to 4m. In particular, the 50-200 year-old

forest surrounding Naejangsa Temple is the highlight of the

mountain. According to records in the temple, Naejangsan

has also been recorded as one of the five most famous

mountains in the Honam region, and has been known as the

Mt. Geumgang of Honam for this reason. A cable car transports

visitors up to Yeonjabong Peak where the entire mountain can

be viewed in all its autumn glory.

4 BYEON MOUNTAIN Peninsula National Park is the only

national park in Korea that is a peninsula based national park

with both mountains and sea included in the park bounds.

It was designated as a national park in 1988 and includes

Byeonsan as its highest peak at 510m, although Naebyeonsan

is the main mountainous attraction of the park. Naebyeonsan

includes the famous 20m tall Jikso Falls and several beautiful

overlooks on the way to the falls. The trail in to the falls is a

pleasant hike, not too steep. The main overlook of the falls

is wide and spacious, where many people are content to sit

down for a snack, but don't be fooled that this is the best

spot. Continue along the path about 100m further to a rocky

stairway that leads down to the pool and views like the picture.

5 DAEDUN MOUNTAIN is known as one of

the eight scenic spots in Korea, and is probably

most well-known for its spectacular granite

cliffs and rock formations around Macheondae,

its highest peak. The orange Geumgang Cloud

Bridge is equally well-known and spans 50m

long, floating 70m a narrow canyon between

The Bridge leads onward

to a Cloud Stairway, just 1m wide, that sways

slightly under the single-file footsteps of

those brave enough to ascend it.

The hike from the Jeollabuk-do is relatively

steep and will take a bit longer (4-5 hours)

than a similarly sized mountain, like

Moaksan. However, there is also a cable car

up to the Cloud Bridge that visitors can use

if they wish. On the Nonsan (northern) side

of the mountain, the trail in is flat for a

while leading up to some waterfalls, and

from there the climb becomes almost

entirely stair climbing.

The mountain belongs to the "Old

Mountain Range" with much of the

vegetation standing over 600m in

height. Its deep forests, unique rock

formations, and varied vegetation make

Daedunsan a top tourist destination

6 MAI MOUNTAIN, ("Horse Ears Mountain") is named for

its two rocky peaks that stand side by side and resemble a

horse raising its two ears. It is said that the mountain was

formed during the Cretaceous Period in the late Mesozoic Era

by a splitting of the Earth's bedrock that raised the two peaks.

Indeed, the rock walls look volcanic, as if formed from molten

earth and eroded away in places over centuries. The mountain

also features some mysterious natural phenomena that can be

observed but defy scientific explanation. Some 80 stone towers

are built on native rock and do not collapse even in powerful

storms. In the winter, a bowl of freshly drawn water placed in

either the Unsu Temple area or Cheonhwang Gate will produce

a frozen pillar reaching up to the sky from its center.

7 SEONUN MOUNTAIN in Gochang was originally called

Mt. Dosol, but the Seonunsa Temple, founded in the Baekje

Dynasty, became famous and prompted a renaming of the

mountain. Seonunsan's beautiful valley and lush forest which

include camellias in spring, crepe myrtle trees around the

temple in the summer, bright red cluster amaryllis in fall,

and gentle snowfall in the mid-winter have led to its being

known as the Mt. Naegeumgang of Honam. In particular, the

Camellia Forest Road (Natural Monument No. 184) has been

selected as the most beautiful road in Korea in the spring,

and includes a colony of over 3,000 trees which are up to 500

years old. The oldest tree, Jangsasaong, is over 600 years old

and Korea's Natural Monument No. 354.

8 MOAK MOUNTAIN overlaps the boundaries of Gimje,

Jeonju, and Wanju, but the majority of the Provincial Park and

its most famous temple, Geumsansa, reside in Gimje. The

trail that begins at the park entrance south of Jeonju can be

rocky, but is not too difficult and can be completed in just a

few hours. Moaksan's peak is fenced off and contains a large

transmission tower, so hikers are only able to climb up to the

fence, but cannot step on the very peak of the mountain. At

the very top of the mountain, there stands a rock in the shape

of a mother holding a child, and that is where the mountain

gets its name ("Mother Crags Mountain"). The Geumsansa

Temple in Gimje contains many national treasures including

a famous 5-story stone pagoda (National Treasure No. 27).

the surrounding valleys and forests

are magnificent. Another specialty of

Jangansan Mountain is the vast silver

grass field that stretches from the main

11 GODEOK MOUNTAIN is the closest mountain to Jeonju

and is best known for the Namgo mountain fortress it holds.

Namgosanseong has also been called "Godeok fortress"

or "Gyeon Hwon fortress" because it was built on Godeok

mountain by Gyeon Hwon, King of the Hubaekje Dynasty.

The existing wall was built to defend Jeonju against the

Japanese army. In 1813, the fortress wall was repaired and

it was renamed Namgo fortress. Since then, much of the old

wall has collapsed, but a hiking path around the fortress

remains, and the Namgo Temple resides within the old walls.

The hike begins in front of the Jeonju College of Education,

which is on the way out from Jeonju to Imsil or Namwon and

is approximately 3km round.

12 SEONGSU MOUNTAIN is located in Seongsu Mountain

Natural Recreation Forest, and it is a famous mountain

where the founding folklores of Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty

are intertwined. Legend says that the first king of Joseon, Yi

Seong-gye, prayed at Sangiam Temple at the top of Seongsusan

for 100 days. When you reach the summit, the view is open

and the view is outstanding in all directions. Seongsusan is a

mountain that also suffered during the Korean War.

13 MIREUK MOUNTAIN is the highest mountain on the

Iksan plain. It is a place rich in historical stories and legends

along with many relics and cultural assets such as the

Sikseong Site, Mireuksa Site (pictured), Sazaam, and the Royal

Palace Tower. The KBS relay tower stands at the summit north

peak, and the Honam Plain spreads out. It is not very high, but

the rocky peaks here and there are harmonized with the pine

forest, making it a good family outing course.

14 CHEONGAM MOUNTAIN is a mountain in Gunsan,

located in the direction of the Gunsan airport. It primarily consists

of a walking path that surrounds Gunsan Lake. The area was

originally designated as a water supply source preservation area

in 1963, and access was forbidden until 2009. This led the area

to a stable natural environment for 486 species of life, including

29 species of birds, 419 species of vegetation, and 38 species of

insects. Today, a camping site is also there.

held an online forum at Jeonbuk

National University's Humanities and

Social Sciences building on August

27 with the theme of “Global Jeonbuk,

Meet Public Diplomacy”.

In the third part, a final screening of

the UCC contest was held for Jeollabukdo’s

university students. Among the

videos submitted from June to August,

six representative teams, which

passed through preliminary screening,

attended the site to introduce each

video. The teams introduced their

videos to the judges, all of whom

(teams and judges) participated in

person or online.

인문사회관에서 글로벌 전북, 공공외교를 만나다 라는

주제로 비대면 포럼 행사를 개최 하였다.

본 행사의 1부는 “한국의 공공외교 이론과 실제” 라는

주제로 의견제시와 토론이 진행되었다. 전북대학교

박성용교수, 강정석 교수, KDI 김유리 전문위원 등

국내 공공외교 분야의 최고 전문가들이 안보부터 국가

브랜딩, 해외 한국학 진흥 등 공공외교와 접목할 수 있는

다양한 분야에 대해 논의 하였다.

discussed with the theme of "Theory

and Truth of Korea's Public Diplomacy."

Top experts of public diplomacy in

Korea, including Professor Sung-yong

Park of Jeonbuk National University,

Professor Jeong-seok Kang, and Yu-ri

Kim, a member of the KDI, and others,

discussed various areas that can be

combined with public diplomacy,

ranging from security to national

branding, and the promotion of Korean

Studies abroad.

As a presentation of specialized

institutions for public diplomacy, the

second part was organized to introduce

the Korea Foundation (KF), the

Jeollabuk-do Center for International

Affairs (JBCIA), and the ASEAN-

Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF). In

addition to the main business of each

institution, speakers also introduced

their future directions of domestic

public diplomacy in response to

the Post-Corona era, and held an

employment-related question-andanswer

session for university students

who participated that day.

Yeon-chul Ha, who combined

international development cooperation

(official development assistance) with

public diplomacy upon visiting Uganda

for a volunteer work opportunity, won

the grand prize. The team ‘Diplomat Lv.1’,

who shot a video so that Jeollabuk-do

residents can easily approach public

diplomacy with international students,

and the Engineering stduent team got

the Excellence Award. Syed Ajim, who

introduced the theoretical concept of

public diplomacy and his opinions to

viewers, and two other teams received

the Participation prize.

Young-ho Lee, the director of the JBCIA,

said, “We thank more than 50 people

for accessing Zoom and attending

today despite the sudden change of

location. As I was watching the UCC

contest videos, I was proud that not

only university students in Jeollabuk-do

but also international students showed

outstanding capabilities. For the next

number of years, there will be a bright

future in Jeollabuk-do.”

2부는 공공외교 전문기관 설명회로, 한국국제교류재단

(KF), 전라북도국제교류센터, 그리고 한-

아세안협력기금을 소개하는 자리가 마련되었다. 이

시간에는 각 기관의 메인 사업 내용뿐만 아니라, 포스트

코로나 시대에 대응하는 우리 국내 공공외교 기관들의

앞으로의 사업 운영 방항에 대해서 소개하고, 금일 참여한

대학생들을 위한 취업 관련 질의 응답 시간을 가졌다.

3부는 전라북도의 대학생들의 UCC 공모전 본선 심사가

개최 되었다. 지난 6~8월 접수된 영상들 중 사전심사를

거쳐 통과된 6개 팀의 대표가 현장에 참석하여 각 영상에

대한 소개를 한 뒤, 대면, 비대면으로 참석한 심사위원,

모든 참가자들에게 영상을 선보였다.

수상은 우간다 해외봉사활동을 다녀온 것을 계기로

국제개발협력분야와 공공외교를 접목하여 소개한

“하연철”군이 최우수상을, 외국인 유학생과 함께

전라북도민이 쉽게 공공외교에 다가갈 수 있도록

영상을 제작한 외교관 Lv.1팀과 공대생 팀이 우수상을

수상하였고, 공공외교의 이론적인 개념, 자신이 생각하는

공공외교에 대한 의견을 영상에 담아 시청자들에게

소개하였던 Syed Ajim과 2개 팀이 장려상을 수상하였다.

이영호 센터장은, “사회적 거리두기 2단계 실시로 급히

장소를 변경하였음에도 50명이 넘는 인원들이 Zoom

으로 접속하여 참여해 주심에 감사의 말씀을 드리며,

본행사 중 대학생 UCC 공모전 영상을 보니 도내

대학생뿐 아니라 외국인 유학생까지 뛰어난 역량을

발휘함에 자랑스럽게 생각한다. 향후 글로벌 전라북도에

대한 밝은 미래가 열릴것으로 보인다.” 라고 언급하였다.

2020 러시아 연해주 새만금 한글학당 – 2학기 개소!

한국을 사랑하는 누구나 참여할 수 있는 블라디보스톡에서의 한국어 교실

전라북도국제교류센터는 지난 4월~6월 3개월동안의

러시아 연해주 우수리스크 고려인 민족학교에서

운영한 한글학당 1학기를 마치고, 2020년 9월 3

일, 새만금 블라디보스톡 한글학당을 개소하였다.

한지*반, 한옥**반 총2개반으로 구성된 한글학당은

한국어에 관심있는 러시아 연해주 거주민 20명을

모집하여 무료로 한국어 교육을 제공 하며, 러시아

내 코로나 바이러스 상황 종료 시 까지 실시간

온라인으로 운영된다.

새만금 한글학당에서는 센터와 전라북도내 5개 대학

(전북대학교, 전주대학교, 군산대학교, 원광대학교,

우석대학교)이 협업하여 제작한 ‘새만금 드림 한국어’

를 교재로 사용한다. 이 교재는 특히 한옥마을, 선유도

등 전라북도의 대표적인 장소, 음식 등을 활용한

간단한 단어부터 실용회화까지 포함되어 있어, 러시아

현지 학생들의 전라북도에 대한 인지도를 높이고,

장기적으로는 전라북도의 국제적 입지 강화, 외국인

유학생 입학률 제고 등에 기여할 것으로 보인다.

전라북도국제교류센터 이영호 센터장은, “이번

러시아 연해주 새만금 한글학당 개소를 통하여

러시아 연해주민에게 양질의 한국어 교육을 제공하는

것이 우리의 큰 목적이며, 새만금 한글학당이 민간

위한 화상회의실 준비 완료

전라북도국제교류센터는 코로나19 장기화에 따라

화상회의 방식을 도입하여 포스트 코로나, 비대면

(언택트) 시대에 적극적으로 대응하고 있다.

화상회의 시스템은 9월 중순 완성될 예정이며,

센터의 화상회의실은 모의유엔회의* 참가자 3차

교육을 시작으로 막을 연다. 또한 센터에서 운영하고

있는 언어교류라운지(영어/프랑스어/중국어 교육

프로그램) 또한 비대면 시대를 맞이하여 온라인

교육으로 진행된다.

이러한 교육프로그램 이외에도 센터에서 추진하고

있는 해외자매우호지역, 신흥교류 지와의 교류사업,

해외 관계자들과의 업무협의 등 이 화상회의실을

적극 활용하여 운영될 예정이다.

이영호 센터장은, “코로나 바이러스 확산으로

해외출장, 해외내빈 전북 방문 등이 어려워짐에 따라,

전라북도국제교류센터는 주저 없이 화상회의실을

구축하기로 결정하였다. 지금까지 우리가 행해왔던

대면교류의 모습과는 방식이 다르지만 금방 적응할

것이며, 비대면 시스템을 적극 활용하고 지속가능한

교류업무 추진으로 전라북도의 글로벌 진출을

멈추지 않겠다” 라고 말했다.
