A POEM

There may be words left unsaid,

As passing time defeated us,

But our memories will bring us comfort,

As we think back to the times we shared.

No time to say goodbye, no final embrace,

But we now have time to reflect and ponder,

Of a long life lived.

What can be said to do you justice?

To sum up your qualities and celebrate your being?

Words on paper, a token gesture,

To try and convey the feelings inside.

With a big heart you gave us all unconditional love,

With no boundaries or limits, it never faltered,

Selflessly you kept on giving,

Relentless kindness, asking for nothing in return,

Family was your world.

Tenacious, but honest, a true dear friend,

Often stubborn and wilful, self-determined and strong,

A forthright tongue with a strong moral compass,

Your intentions always good.

Such a clever mind, with talented hands and fingers that created,

With a thirst for knowledge and openness to learn,

Age held no barrier, an inspiration to us all.

You had one life and was determined to live it.

So it’s a fond farewell,

Wrapped with love and adoration,

Your suffering and pain is no more,

Rest in peace mum,

Gone but never forgotten.
