JIM MADDEN’S POST ELECTION STATEMENT
“It is a great honour and a privilege to be
elected for a fourth term as the Member for
Nanango,” Mrs Frecklington said.
“I am very humbled and sincerely thank the
community for putting their faith in me. I
took on this role to make a difference in our
regional areas, and I will continue to fight for
our fair share in the Nanango Electorate.
“There is so much opportunity right here, but
it needs backing with better roads, better
health services and less red and green tape for
our primary producers and small business.
“This is what I’ll be working to achieve for
our Nanango Electorate communities – right
across the South Burnett, Somerset, northern
Toowoomba, Cherbourg and western Gympie
areas.
“I’ll continue to work hard each and every day
because I love this area, and the people who
call our beautiful part of the world home,” Deb
said.

I am so incredibly humbled to have been reelected
as the Member for Ipswich West.
It is an absolute privilege to be able to
continue to deliver for our community, as we
rebuild from COVID together.
A range of State Government projects in
Ipswich West have been completed since I
was first elected in 2015, including the $10M
upgrade of the Minden Crossroads, the $10M
Ipswich State High Performing Arts Centre
and $10M safety improvements to the Tivoli/
Brassall section of the Warrego Highway.
Various projects have received State
government funding but are yet be
completed, including the $2.7M Ipswich
State High STEM Building, the $22M upgrade

The Somerset Regional Council
have been forced to fork out
thousands in recent weeks to
cover the cost of vandalism
committed in late September.
As has become far too familiar in the region in
recent months, public toilets were once again
the prime targets out the callous vandals,
with Kilcoy’s Anzac Park toilets being attacked
twice, on September 16 and 28.
Damages included the toilet seat in the
disabled bathroom being broken, as well as a
stainless steel rubbish bag holder.
Also reported on September 28 was a
stainless steel toilet seat being broken at the
of the Mt Crosby Road Warrego Highway
Interchange and the $650,000 synthetic
Soccer Pitch at Ipswich State High.
I have enjoyed serving on various
Parliamentary Committees and as the
Government’s representative on the Rural
Drought and Debt Taskforce and Chair of the
Western Queensland Community Forum.
In the 57th Queensland Parliament I am
pleased to serve in any capacity that the
Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, can make
best use of my skills as a lawyer, agronomist,
small business owner and a former Local
Government Councillor.
Thank you to the residents of Ipswich West for
placing your trust in me, I won’t them down.
Minden Village Toilets, and a toilet seat being
stolen from the Coach Stop toilets in Kilcoy.
Councillor Sean Choat expressed his
exasperation at the ongoing issue.
“I can’t believe that people have nothing
better to do than damage a public lavatory,”
he said.
“It’s ridiculous. To steal a toilet seat? It’s a sad
sign of the times.”
The total cost to ratepayers for repairing the
vandalism damages caused in September
was $2,242.
Fernvale’s expanding health
services are continuing to grow
with STAR Radiology’s new
addition, the Ultra Low Dose
Computer Tomography (CT)
machine.
STAR Radiology in Fernvale is now a full
comprehensive radiology centre providing
all general x-ray, dental (OPG), Ultrasound as
well as Interventional ultrasound (cortisone
injections) and Ultra Low Dose CT.
Dr. Andrew Timbs the owner of STAR Radiology
says “The new ultra low dose CT technology
is amazing. It allows us to perform many CT
scans for the equivalent does to a standard
x-ray. It is the safest CT scan available”.
STAR Radiology has been in Fernvale for 2
years now and has been striving to increase
their medical radiology services continuously.
Dr. Timbs says “It has been a tough two years
but it is very satisfying to finally have a full
service radiology centre for the community.
Everyone continually mentions how much
they dislike having to travel for radiology
services into Ipswich or Gatton. There are
very few radiology services we are unable to
do. It is very gratifying to know that everyone
no longer needs to travel and can get their
radiology services locally”.
A little known fact with radiology referral
forms is that it is the patients choice of what
centre they attend. It does not matter what
referral form you receive from the doctor it is
your choice what centre you visit. Dr. Timbs
says “This is a very important point for the
public to be aware of. Most doctors in the area
still for some reason do not use our referral
forms regularly and do not make the patient
aware that there is a local imaging centre. This
creates significant confusion for the patients
as most believe they need to attend that
centre on the referral form. We have patients
on a daily basis complaining to us that their
doctor has been sending them to Ipswich and
Gatton for the past two years and they did not
know we where in Fernvale.” This makes it an
easy decision to support a local business with
the added benefit that you no longer need
to travel the 20-30 minutes to Ipswich and
Gatton and fight the traffic, parking and wait
times.
Dr. Timbs says “The technology we use for
our reporting is the leading in the industry.
Doctors have direct access to their images as
soon as the procedure had been completed
and all our reports are completed within 24
hours, most times far quicker. If an urgent
report is required we can complete it in a
matter of hours.”
Fernvale and the surrounding areas continue
to grow and having adequate medical
services is critical. Let's spread the word
and support our local businesses so we can
continue to have these amazing service in our
community.
